Vancouver Farmers Markets is celebrating its 20th birthday this Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Main Street Station Market with an official “Vancouver Farmers Markets Day” proclamation from the City. This non-profit society organized the city’s first open air farmers market on July 29, 1995.
Deputy Mayor Andrea Reimer will be on hand to present the plaque and read the proclamation to market organizers, vendors and shoppers at 3:30pm. Other 20th birthday festivities at the market on Wednesday include free coffee and donuts for shoppers, compliments of Cartems Donuterie and Salt Spring Coffee.
If you’re looking for a farmers market this season, there are plenty to visit throughout the week in your neighbourhood or a new-to-you pocket of the city, each with growers, producers, artisans, and locals bringing the very best from their farm to your table.
