In Conversation With Sandra Oh at The Cinemathequeby
The Cinematheque presents Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival, starting January 8th and running until January 18th, featuring the best Canadian films from the last year. Established in 2001 by the Toronto International Film Festival, this celebration of excellence in our national cinema showcases Canadian achievements in both feature-length and short-form films.
The festival also includes a special onstage conversation with award-winning film and television actress Sandra Oh (Double Happiness, Sideways, Grey’s Anatomy) on January 18th at The Cinematheque.
In Conversation With Sandra Oh
At TIFF’s first-ever presentation of its popular In Conversation With event series in Vancouver, TIFF Artistic Director Cameron Bailey will sit down with Sandra Oh, as well as Vancouver filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming, to talk about Oh’s career and her upcoming animated feature with Fleming, Window Horses.

So many quotes here are some:
-Oh, screw beautiful, I’m brilliant! You wanna appease me, compliment my brain!
-If there’s no food, I’m going home.
-How am I supposed to get through the holidays without liquor?
-I’m laughing, just not externally.
-Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here, and don’t give a damn what anyone thinks. There are no teams here, no buddies. You’re on your own. Be on your own.
-Pretty good is not enough, I wanna be great.
-(She wore red on her wedding day) I’m not wearing white. It’s sexist and vaguely racist.
-If you want crappy things to stop happening to you, then stop accepting crap and demand something more.
-Being aware of your crap, and actually overcoming your crap are two very different things.
-There comes a point where it all becomes too much. When we get too tired to fight anymore. So we give up. That’s when real work begins. To find hope where there seems to be absolutely none at all.
