The Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park will once again be home to the Surrey Children’s Festival this year, from May 23rd until May 25th. Rain or shine, there are indoor and outdoor stages and performances for children of all ages.

Line-Up

Festival hours are 9:00am to 2:30pm Thursday and Friday, and 10:30am to 7:30pm on Saturday. Programming at this year’s festival includes films, workshops, arts activities, roving performers, and much more. Artists and events on the schedule so far include:

  • The Chairmen
    Amazingly talented circus duo.
  • Cirque Surrey
    Surrey’s own youth circus troupe.
  • Francophone Programming
    See the Surrey Children’s Festival Francophone programming.
  • Grand Derangement
    Watch the award-winning Acadian music group light the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park, on fire with crackling music, fiddling and step.
  • Grug
    Calling all 18 months to 5 year olds, theatre and puppet show from Australia coming to the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park.
  • The Itch of the Golden Nit
    Don’t miss this film debut, created by 34,000 children from the UK, at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park.
  • Medicine Bear
    Kaha :wi Dance Theatre performing traditional Iroquois stories in Medicine Bear at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park.
  • Roving Performers
    Catch the excitement of the Festival with the roving performers on site.
  • The Spirit of Harriet Tubman
    Watch the amazing performance of The Spirit of Harriet Tubman at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park.

Tickets

School and group tickets have been on sale for months and regular tickets went on sale in April. To make sure you don’t miss out on the fun, you can book your regular tickets in advance online, by phone (604) 501-5566, or in person at the Surrey Arts Centre box office.

Regular tickets are $10 $6 for children under 3 years old) and they include an Arts Activity Wristband. Arts Activity Wristbands are $5 and are valid all days of the festival, these activities are free for adults supervising children. Family packs of 4 tickets are $36 and Saturday all-access passes are $12 (limited number available) and they include full access to all of the arts activities and ticketed performances (subject to show availability).

Film passes for “The Itch of the Golden Nit” are $8 or $2 if added on to another performance ticket. Site entrance is free. Check the official Surrey Children’s Festival website for exact ticket prices and availability.

Community Spirit Stage

The Community Spirit Stage will showcase professional and emerging artists on an outdoor stage in Bear Creek Park. All performances will be free to attend (no wristbands required).
