EAT Vancouver 2012: Prize Pack Giveaway
byImagine an entire stadium filled with chefs, restaurants, vendors, and foodies. Throw in Food Network stars, demonstations, seminars, and cooking competitions and you have EAT Vancouver.
Happening June 1-3, 2012 the 10th annual EAT Vancouver cooking festival will take over BC Place. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Celebrity Stage
Featuring: Bob Blumer (World’s Weirdest Restaurants, Glutton for Punishment), David Rocco (David Rocco’s Dolce Vita), Rob Feenie (Canada’s first Iron Chef winner, Food Concept Artist at Cactus Club), Annabelle Waugh (Food Director at Canadian Living Magazine).
International Culinary Stage
Explore the Spice of Louisiana with Chef Patrick Mould
Peru presents Chef Pedro Guillen
Fun Flavours of the Philippines with Chef Albert S. Rivera
Thailand, A Taste of Thai with Chef Arnat Seksantrakul
A feast of Flavours from Oaxaca with Chef Rossana Ascencio
There’s also the Dairy Farmers of Canada Cheese Seminar Stage, the Fit to EAT Stage, and the Grapes & Hops State with wine and beer presentations.
Competitions include a barista challenge, and you’ll find some of your favourite Vancouver restaurants represented in the food pavilion.
The festival will be open Friday June 1st from 2:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday June 2nd from 10:00am to 9:00pm, and Sunday, June 3rd from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Tickets are available online now, starting at $14. You can also sign up for a variety of Pop-Up Culinary Centre Cooking Classes for $28.

Favorite restaurant is The Nice Cafe.
My Favourite is 81/2. I love going there anytime! It could be for brunch, lunch, dinner or just appetizers and drinks. The food is fresh, local and so good! The atmosphere is happening! Reminds me of a funky, quaint San Francisco restaurant. The service is great as well! Have recommended them to many and all have loved it!!

It’s super hard to pick a favourite food truck or restaurant in Vancouver. I’d have to say Fresh.Local.Wild and Tacofino are my two favourite trucks so far. C Restaurant is one of my favourite restaurants in the city, although I had some fantastic meals at the Shore Club and Black + Blue during Dine Out this year.

There are a lot of great places. Burgoo is always a sure bet for consistently good comfort food, nice patios, super service. We’re lucky to have so many great choices in the Lower Mainland.

Sandbar is really nice. Earls seems to be my standby for casual dining. And gotta love Rob Feenie = ) I try to go to Eat Vancouver or Eat Fraser Valley at least once every year to see him.
West restaurant
How on earth can you pick a favourite Vancouver restaurant–there are so many! That being said, the last time I went to East is East I was in heaven. Gulab jaman and chai tea=amazing!
Fave restaurant is C. Fave food truck is a toughie, but I will go with Fresh Local Wild. Very cool prize!!
I went to Trevor Bird’s new restaurant Fable last weekend and it absolutely blew my mind! There is no other restaurant doing what Fable does. I see good things in their future 🙂

My favourite restaurant in Vancouver right now is Little Nest because with a rowdy 2 yr old it is the best place to eat with a happy playing kid! And the food is awesome.

Just tried out Santa Rosa Mexican restaurant yesterday in Port Coquitlam (1585 Broadway) and absolutely loved it! I had never tried mole sauce before; (not sure why I waited so long; it was delicious!) Have to go back next time their factory is making tortillas so we can have a tour! Tiny little place but excellent food and service.

Bo Lakso King Bubbles and Bits (2546 E Hastings St.) – Amazing Burmese food and the owner’s story is just as amazing!

Mui Garden (5797 Victora Dr.) – Amazing Malaysian curry! English is poor, the decor is a little bit cafeteria but the food is awesome! One of the best locations for hunan chicken!

With so many awesome restaurants in Vancouver, it is hard to name just one place I enjoy dining at.
However, if I name one, I would say I like dining at Salade de fruits. The place isn’t fancy or look luxurious for french restaurant but their comfort french food and friendly service always put smile on my face as well as whomever I bring as a company 🙂 The food never fails to please my palate and I know I can expect good food any night of the week 🙂
