Valentine’s Dinner at Tableau Bar Bistro
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching as I hear both grumbles and giggles about the romantic Hallmark holiday. In Vancouver, there are plenty of ways to spark some romance. Long walks on the beach, strolls under the wooded canopy of a local park, spa treatments, and of course a candle-lit dinner. Tableau Bar Bistro, located in the Five Star Diamond award-winning Loden Hotel, will be serving up a special supper for sweethearts:

Cream of Permentier (leek & potato soup, nutmeg whipped cream, grated winter black truffle)
Dungeness Crab Salad on Toast (celeriac-remoulade, toasted pecans, herb focacci)
La Pate en Croute (foie gras terrine baked old fashion “en croute”, pickled vegetables, croutons)
Mains:
Seared Scallops & Ravioli (eggplant ravioli, smoked tomato, kale & pinenuts, sunchoke)
Duo of Lamb (braised shoulder “backeoffe” style and grilled chop, garlic & rosemary sauce)
Arctic Char (pan-roasted arctic char, lobster sauce, cauliflower fleurets, mixed mushrooms)
Desserts:
Le Quatre Quart (citrus pound cake, kumquat, marmalade and whipped cream)
Marquise au Chocolate (buttered dark chocolate slice, huckleberry, vanilla ice cream)

How wonderful! I think the most romantic place (and I may be biased as it is a spot of mine) is Deer Lake park, beside Hart House restaurant. You have a nice secluded spot with a gorgeous view of the city at dusk 🙂
The most romantic place for me in Vancouver is under “our tree” (lighted trees that look like one big tree in English Bay near Inukshuk) where my husband and I went to on our second date (part of Christmas light looking) and where he later proposed to me.

I think the most romantic spot in Vancouver is an evening walk on the seawall in Stanley Park overlooking the Vancouver skyline with my boyfriend of 5 years. We can’t always afford much, but it’s a way to experience a beautiful city for low cost!

The most romantic spot in the city for me is around Robson Square… hubby and I met there (Law Courts Inn) over 5 years ago, he proposed to me right in front of the Spring sculpture at Robson Square and we had our legal wedding ceremony at the Law Courts Rooftop garden (symbolic ceremony was in Mexico). Yup, that whole area just gives me the warm fuzzies <3

I love the Lions Gate Bridge at night with the lights, so to me, the most romantic place is the little lookout area in Stanley Park where you can see the bridge. Just not sure of the name of the area.

The most romantic place I have been to is the walkway between the two Convention Centers. It was a nice clear night and the stroll ended with hot choclates from Leonidas. Perfect, romantic and memorable.

For me, the most romantic spot in Vancouver is actually located at the Loden. My first trip to town to visit my long distance sweetheart included a night in one of the corner rooms, and the most amazing bath ever in one of the Loden’s massive bathtubs. We balanced our champagne glasses on the faucet!
For PUBLIC places, it would have to be the steps outside of the Van Art Gallery at night (especially if you there aren’t any vendors out).

there’s a spot at Spanish Banks West where my wife and I had our first real date..there’s a spot where it feels like you’re on the edge of Vancouver and gives almost 240 degree view of the water..gives you the sunset and downtown all lit up. I planned on proposing on the same spot but she had a mtn bike accident so I regrouped and we went to site of date #3 because site of date #2 was being used for candle light vigil for earthquake in China. eventually, I got to ask her to be my wife and she agreed.

Don’t even have to think twice about that one, my wife and I love Spanish Banks in the evening, close up to the water, with a few trees surrounding. The view and ambience is magical. It brings back many wonderful memories.
