Seattle Overnight Getaway with Pineapple Hospitality
byOver the last year I spent more time in Seattle than I had before, at any point in my life. I went past Bellis Fair, over the Chuckanut, beyond the Tulip Festival, to the stands at Safeco, up the Space Needle, around the EMP, above and below Pike Place Market, and shopped til I dropped.
I discovered more of Seattle’s history, saw more of its MLB and MLS teams in action, dug into its foodie scene, and hit popular attractions that millions visit each year.
Last November I had the pleasure of staying at The Maxwell Hotel in Seattle and meeting the team behind Pineapple Hospitality. This family-run business operates The Watertown Hotel and The University Inn in the University of Washington District (just North of downtown), HotelFIVE (in the heart of downtown), and The Maxwell Hotel (Queen Anne).
I have partnered with them to offer up a Seattle Overnight Getaway to one lucky reader. The winner will get the chance to spend the night in an Urban Suite at HotelFIVE in the heart of downtown.
HotelFIVE has a full restaurant, a coffee bar, a modern lobby (complete with books and board games), and has been completely remodeled (you would never be able to tell it used to be a big chain hotel). The suites have flat screen TV’s, pod coffee makers, WIFI, Serta Concierge Emerald Plush mattresses, Kohler fixtures and more.
The hotel has deluxe queen rooms, deluxe double queen rooms, and only 2 Urban Suites. The Urban Suite (that the contest winner will be able to enjoy) has a king bed, a sleeper sofa, 42″ HDTV, WIFI, and upgraded amenities with a walk-in shower with rain shower-head and body sprays.
HotelFIVE is within walking distance of some of the city’s best attractions and eateries, including several of Tom Douglas’ restaurants and Dahlia Bakery.
The winner of the contest can also enjoy the amazing EMP (Experience Music Project) at Seattle Centre thanks to the Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau (“Seattle CVB”). They’ll include 2 tickets for the EMP in the prize package along with 2 monorail passes. From HotelFIVE, you can walk over to the monorail station at Westlake, do some shopping along the way.
There is a Battlestar Galactica exhibit on now at the EMP (until March) along with their amazing Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Avatar exhibits, guitar gallery, and more. Check out the Seattle CVB for timely events and exhibits when you plan your stay.
Here’s how you can enter to win this Seattle Overnight Getaway that includes 1 night in an Urban Suite at HotelFIVE (value $500), 2 EMP passes, and 2 monorail tickets.
- Leave a comment on this post about why you’d like to visit Seattle (1 entry)

There are no blackout dates for the hotel stay but booking is based on availability. Must be 19 years of age or older to enter, a resident of BC, and must be legally permitted to enter the United States (and return to Canada). I will draw 1 winner next Friday, January 13, 2012 at 10:00am.
Follow Pineapple Hospitality on Twitter and Facebook to learn more about their properties. The Seattle CVB is on Facebook, and @SeattleMaven is their go-to Twitter account.

My husband and I have 2 great kids – the oldest is 13 and was injured at birth and requires a wheelchair and 24/7 care. We could really use a night away! and we love Seattle. and my husband is crazy about baseball – so if there’s a Mariners game to catch, that will be squeezed in too!

We LOVE Seattle…we keep discovering new things to do there, with high quality theatre, restaurants, museum exhibits etc., plus perennial favorites the fabulous zoo, charming Green Lake for a walk etc. – a fabulous yet different weekend every time.
Seattle has a great vibe and I dont’t go there enough. Would love to have a weekend adventure.
As children living in Vancouver, our folks would take us down the I-5 into a “strange and different land” and into Seattle. I have fond memories of those road trips.
Years later, there would be a gathering of astronomers in downtown Seattle in early-January. The weather that entire week? Sunny and warm – for some, it was an unbelievably beautiful introduction to the U.S. Pacific Northwest. It might have given some the mistaken impression that it never rains, despite the greenery …
As part of this year’s RTW, I’m doing the “slow wander” first throughout North America, which includes “home” Vancouver, and naturally, back down I-5 to Seattle. I’ve a friend at U-Dub whom I haven’t seen in a few years, which should get us all caught up, and includes talking EPL smack with his Chelsea versus my Arsenal.
Have never been…hotel looks beautiful!

My husband and I have been planning to go to Seattle years, but we haven’t had the extra cash to treat ourselves. The farthest we ever make it is Bellingham for groceries and gas. I’d love to stay at Hotel Five in the Urban Suite (which would be way over my budget), check out Pike Place Market, do some shopping and of course see the Experience Music Project (we’ve never been before). Battlestar was one of my hubby’s favourite shows! It would be a special treat for us if we won! Thank you so much!
Oh I loved Seattle when I visited in October. I even stayed at the beautiful Maxwell hotel. BUT, I was only there overnight and missed out on so many things that I wanted to see and do. I wanna go back.

Pick me, pick me! Went to Seattle last year and had such a great time. Great food, great shopping…just didn’t have enough time there so I need to go back. I’d love to make it an annual event with my Mum.

I ve been to Seattle a few times but haven’t really visited the major attractions. Would love to go again and enjoy what seattle has to offer.

I’d like to take my east coast Fiance to explore the wharf and city. He’s only seen it as we whizzed by on the way to SEATAC. Also, I’m not going to lie – I’d love to do some shopping…for friends and family. Well maybe one pair of shoes for myself, ok two, but most likely not five…unless they are really cute.
Love to go down to Seattle and play tourist. So many times, it’s just pop down for some shopping. Would love to have some time to actually hang out
Would love to explore the city rather than just a weekend shopping trip. Never been to the EMP or the space needle.
We got married in Seattle so it always is somewhere we love to go. Most of the times these days we only do a jam packed day trip and miss out on the strolling and enjoying it so this would be perfect. Also, this hotel looks really cute! Never heard of it before.
I’d love to visit Seattle so I can shop at my favorite store – Nordstrom Rack!
I would love to getaway to Seattle with my daughter, who is 20, because she moved out last year, and I don’t get to see her as much anymore, and I miss her! I would absolutely love a night away with her, hanging out, doing activities and “girl things” in the big city 🙂 Thanks for the chance…good luck everyone 🙂
I would love to win a getaway to Seattle!! I love that it is close to home but so different and fun! And the shopping and cheap wine only make it better 🙂
Day trips always feel way too rushed. An overnight stay would be fantastic!

What a great prize pack. Seattle is chalkablock full of fun things to see and do. What I enjoy the most is coming across all the ways in which we as Westcoast Canadians and Americans are so similar and yet so startlingly different!
First off, I’m in dire need of a getaway of any sort. And secondly I love the food, and I’ve been dying to check out this restaurant called Bizzarros!

I could definitely use a little get-away, even if it’s just across the border! Didn’t get a chance to have much of a holiday during the Christmas season, so this would be my retreat 🙂
A weekend Seattle trip would be the perfect getaway for my bf’s upcoming birthday 🙂
I’ve been to the Seattle area a few times, but always to visit my boyfriend’s family, and I’ve never gotten to be a tourist! What a good chance!

Love seattle for all the shopping and great food!
My husband and I talk a lot about going to Seattle and have never made it past Bellingham. I know he would love it if we ever actually got there and would make it a regular trip.

A hotel named after moi? 🙂 Id love to know what its like to be treated like a KING!:0 But yes, would love the chance to sop up the true American spirit and not suffer through Canadian drollness. Have not truly explored the birthplace of Pike Place coffee and speaking of which!
i love seattle! roq la rue, plum, wayward = some favourites. belltown for mama’s is also a to do while there. i love any chance to go there this seems like a great chance to visit seattle from yet another perspective. would love the chance!

I would *love* to win a trip to Seattle because…
Despite living in Vancouver for 2 years now, I’ve never visited Seattle! Portland yes, around BC yes, but never the Emerald City. I would love to visit and soak up the culture and buzz I’ve heard so much about.
And, my boyfriend and I will soon be celebrating our two year anniversary. A minibreak to Seattle in these tough economic climes (especially to one with a beautiful hotel) would be a really special, memorable way to celebrate.
Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed.
Shopping and Dining and soaking in the Pacific Northwest!
The shopping of course
Fabulous shopping in downtown Seattle and hanging out at Pike Market
I need a free trip to Seattle because I’ve been job-hunting steadily for two months and finally convinced someone to hire me — I start on Monday! This is great news … but for the past two months I have been on austerity lock-down, haven’t been out to eat, haven’t been to a movie, gone out to hear music, haven’t even done any joy-riding with my car cuz I’m afraid to spend the money on gas. Now that I can relax, a little, and splurge, a little, I’d love nothing more than to spend a couple days in Seattle, a city I truly love, and not have to worry about money.
Id love to have this experience as I’ve passed through Seattle, but never had the chance to stay there and explore the city.
Go shopping : )
I’d love to visit Seattle because I haven’t ever been to the zoo!
denimc{at}gmail{dot}com
shopping!
I have only been there once and it has been over 10 years since that time. It would be great to see what’s new there and explore the city a bit with my sister.
My parents used to take my sister and I down there every summer when we were kids to explore and stock up on school supplies. I’d love to take my family now and continue that tradition!
I’d like to visit Seattle to celebrate my 2nd anniversary with my bf in April. It has been an amazing two years and I am so thankful to have found him. He loves Pike Place Market and the idea of surprising him with a stay at Hotel 5 would be so cool. He rocks my world so how fitting it is that we would also get to explore the EMP. This is a great opportunity. 🙂
i’d love to go to seattle and see the experience music project. i’d also check out some of the restaurants.
Love to go there for some shopping and food with my family!
Need a quick getaway!

I love weekend trips, would love to go and celebrate my new engagement!
Enjoy their craft beer selections
Seattle is my hometown, and although I’ve lived all over the country at this point, it’s still my favorite American city. Currently, I live relatively nearby (Bellingham), but finances and work prevent me from visiting Seattle much even though the majority of my friends and family are there. Winning this getaway, would cause an instant mini-reunion with many folk that I haven’t seen in person for quite a while.
art and architecture
One can only dream..unfortunately,in my world that’s all it is.
