The 2010 Gingerbread Creations Competition & Marketplace is coming up next week (November 12th and 13th) at the Vancouver Hellenic Centre. This annual event features over 70 boutiques offering unique, handmade items from local vendors as well as gingerbread creations (not limited to houses).

I’m fortunate enough to be a judge of the gingerbread competition that will take place on the first day. If you think you have what it takes to create a gingerbread masterpiece, you can download an entry form online. There are over $1,000 in cash and prizes to be won and the deadline for entries is November 8th.

Admission to the marketplace and gingerbread competition is $2 with all proceeds benefiting the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Tickets are available at the door and exhibition space is still available for vendors.

Does anyone else feel this is kind of early? Feels kind of weird. I’m not quite ready yet.

@lulu Valid point – I’m already seeing decorations going up in store & holiday commercials on TV.

However, mid-November is usually a time when Christmas markets occur. I think it lets people prepare for the holidays, pick up some new decorations, and get into the spirit of the season before the rush.

It is already the start of the Christmas season which brings me so many fond memories of the past. Glad you will be one of the judge in that gingerbread competition. By the way, that picture you are using here in the post is absolutely amazing…it wets my appetite lol…

Short version .. Paid $280 for a table @ Gingerbread Creations Craft Fair .. I was told that there would be 60 vendor tables .. 23 – Friday night … 21 – Saturday .. Poorly advertised .. Poor communications .. Poor Signage .. Hard to Find.

The Vendors asked for some kind of Rebate after wasting 10 hrs & barely any customers. We were told to Forget about It, cause we were getting NOTHING BACK !! Jenneil Peters

I was really excited to go to this Gingerbread Craft Fair, but the name and advertising was really misleasing. There were only 7 gingerbreads, which all looked like they were made from a gingerbread kit, and there wasn’t 70 vendors, I would guess closser to 20.
