Vancouver 2010 Opening Ceremony Ticket Giveaway
byYesterday I launched a contest with BC Hydro Power Smart to win tickets to a men’s ice hockey semi-final game.
Turns out they have much more to give Miss604.com readers as I’ve been offered tickets to tonight’s opening ceremonies. I only have two hours to run this contest so that the winner can pick up tickets in time so here we go.
Contest:
Leave a comment between 1:20pm and 3:00pm 2:45pm on this post about the Olympics (anything you like). I will draw a winner randomly at 3:15pm 2:50pm. The winner will be notified by email and must be able to confirm within 30 minutes that they can pick up their ticket tonight.
Rules and regulations:
Winner must be able to pick up their ticket for the opening ceremony (tonight at 6:00pm at BC Place) from the BC Hydro Power Smart Village at 333 Dunsmuir Street. The winner will need to bring a copy of the email I will send saying they have won and will need government ID to prove their identity.
That’s it, good luck everyone and Go Canada!
Update: This contest will need to close at 2:45 so that the winner can get their tickets and get into the ceremony on time.
Update: I just drew the winner and it’s Katy, congratulations!
Update: Katy has claimed the prize and is on her way to the Power Smart Village.

As a Kiwi who has been living in Vancouver for over a year, I am so excited for all the amazing events happening here in the next few weeks. Have seen the torch relay last night and today and can’t wait to get amongst it all. The Olympics will probably never come to New Zealand so this is an incredible opportunity for me!
I am ecstatic about the Olympics, which will truly define Vancouver and Canada to the rest of the world. Ann Gibbon
I hope they have a moment of silence for Nodar Kumaritashvili tonight.
Can’t wait for the Games to start! Sooo excited!
IT’S OLYMPICS! TIME TO CELEBRATE!
I just held a torch, getting ready for the games!
To be there would be AWESOME
Olympics are awesome. Lovin your blogging coverage. I’ve heard some rumors that the opening ceremonies will be a sight to behold.
Go Canada Go!
So sad to hear about the luge accident today. Thoughts and prayers for Nodar’s family and friends, and all the athletes who have to race on the same track. May there be no more accidents.
Go Canada Go!
thanks for the great contests!
Lucky comment number one! I hope that, from all of the mixed emotions pulsing through the city right now emerges a fantastic celebration of the best the world has to offer. This is the time to put aside our differences and embrace our guests! Go World! (I’ve adopted Visa’s slogan)
I am so excited to be glued to my TV during all the events! And I can’t wait to head downtown and take part in all the festivities! 🙂 GO FOR GOLD, CANADA!
Count me in, only thing that could beat that prize would be the men’s gold medal hockey game! Great prize!

Happy Olympics Vancouver!
My favorite thins about the Olympics is MEN’S HOCKEY, duh!
Our family was there in 2003 at GM Place when Vancouver was awarded the Games. Our kids were 3 and 5 then, and we thought it would be soooo long until 2010.
Here we are. Tonight’s the night and it will be spectacular.
I’d like to win these tickets on behalf of my parents-in-law, who were unable to obtain tickets for the Games and sadly lament that fact.
Thanks and cheers.
Ready to Celebrate! Would love to go to the Ceremonies 🙂
pick me pick me!!
Would LOVE eto go to the opening ceremony
GOld Canada GOld!
Pick me please!
I hope that the tragic incident on the luge course isn’t a sign of things to come. The Olympics are supposed to be about happy events and triumphs.
Crossing my fingers for our Canadian figure skaters! Go Patrick Chan 🙂
Watching the torch run by us on Davie and Burrard this morning was an emotional moment. Go Canada!

So proud to be Canadian right now, and loving some of the lyrics from Classified’s Oh Canada:
From the land of the lost
Trans-Canada crossed
patriotic and a honor
with a hand on my heart
From the Greatest of Lakes
to the greenest of greens
to the Rockiest mountains
and everything in between
I know where I’m from and I told ya before
North of America hard to ignore
every time I go away i tell em for sure
I’m from Canada o-o-o Canada

Thoughts and prayers to the family of Nodar Kumaritashvili
My thoughts are with the family, fellow competitors and friends of Nodar Kumaritashvili today.
thinks Kumaritashvili’s family should light the torch
Luge tragedy today will require a solemn addition to the opening ceremony
The only thing better than watching the opening ceremony on tv would to be there live! I’d love to win!

Let the Games Begin!!
It seemed so tragic as to render the Olympics pointless and unredeemable to me. And then I remembered Nodar Kumaritashvili died at what he would probably consider to be the most important and most significant moment of his life doing what he loves to do.
I’ll drop everything to be there!
I love how the tesion and thrill of watching our Canadian athletes compete

This post goes to the family, friends and loved ones of the fallen luge racer. As an athlete who practises a dangerous sport; I truly believe that he died doing what he loved and proudly representing his country. He was probably so happy and having the greatest experience of his life. RIP

I agree, there should be some respects paid to the late Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, who was killed in a training accident in Whistler today. So sad.
And in the meantime, I plan to cheer both the Olympics sport, fun, and creativity, *and* the protester’s reminders of all that is wrong with the corporate marketing frenzy and the warped priorities that got us here.
Here’s to hoping I win. Thanks in advance 🙂
The Olympics has created an amazing sense of community here! I’m in awe of how we are all drawn to the torch, wanting to touch it, get a glimpse of the spirit and what it represents: Hope, Pride and World Peace! I would be so honoured to experience the opening ceremonies!

So sad to hear of Nodar Kumaritashvili’s death. Thinking of his family and fellow competitors right now.
I have been wowed by Vancouver hosting the games and so proud to be a Vancouverite at this time. I haven’t any tickets to an event and planned to cheer in my living room. Thanks to BC hydro for this wonderful unexpected opportunity of a lifetime for someone. If I am chosen, I’ll be out my house in 5 mins to collect the tickets and would be ever grateful to have the chance to actually be there in person. I am saddened by the news about the Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili. My prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates.
