Surrey Fusion Festival 2009 – The Food
byWe spent the better part of Saturday over at the Fusion Festival in Holland Park and aside from the sights, sounds, and activities at this free event, the highlight for us was definitely the food pavilions.
We started off with our staple Jamaican smoothie, followed up with tacos from Mexico, then moved on to empanadas from Peru. I picked up some bannock to take over to my mother and later in the day we enjoyed some blueberry cookies from the First Nations tent which were soft and chewy like muffin tops.
Tickets are purchased and redeemed at the food tents with most items being three to four tickets, and beverages being about two.
The Fusion Festival runs all day Sunday July 19th as well so if you would like to enjoy some tasty treats from around the world I highly recommend you stop on by.
You can view all of my photos here as well in John‘s Flickr set.

Agreed, AWESOME food! AWESOME music! AWESOME atmosphere!
It seemed less expensive than last year, there were some good deals for food and I liked that the portions seemed smaller this year so I could try more items.
I went to Taste of the City at the PNE yesterday, and Fusion today so I feel like I’ve been spoilt with amazing food the past two days.
Fusion definately had more interesting, ethnic foods. I loved the mango on a stick stand from Ecuador even though I didn’t buy it.
The chicken kebab for $2 each at the Afghanistan tent was worth every penny.
The corn frittars at the Indonesian tent were also a stand-out and their interesting cantalope drink.
I loved the African food from Kenya.
I actually had a tonne of food, didn’t spend that much and was so stuffed. I had to spend my last few tickets on cookies from the Romania vendor, and these were delicious as well.
The jerk chicken was a deal at $5 for two pieces of chicken. I actually had this to go, as I was too full to eat anything else.
i feel so proud to be part of the event – at the Vietnamese Pavilion
Until next Fusion Fest – Have a good summer!
