Next week is the first annual Look Fashion Show to benefit youth programs. The goal is to educate youth about healthy lifestyle choices, and have them share their insights on the topic through vlogs (video blogs) and the fashion showcase.
The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (open to all) at 950 W 41 Avenue
Tuesday May 12, 200 from 7:30pm until 9:30pm
Book a $10 ticket by calling (604) 257-5114 or emailing thelook2009[at]gmail.com
Models will be youth from grades 8-12. Hair and make up artistry by Blanche MacDonald and fashion by Jules & Eve, and FAB Clothing, Boys’Co Clothing
The fundraising event will support programs and facilities for youth throughout the Lower Mainland through the Jewish Community Centre. “The JCC teen lounge provides a place for teens to learn skills through sports, leadership programs, afterschool care, fitness and community partnering programs. Most importantly, it is a safe place with responsible young adults that get to know each teen by name and act as a sounding board without judgment.”
They’ve been promoting the fashion show through various online mediums, such as Flickr, Twitter and vlogs where the youth talk about their healthy lifestyle choices.
Public are encouraged to create their own 30-second healthy lifestyle videos and share them through the program’s site. People can then vote on their favourite videos and the winner will receive two VIP tickets to the fashion show. If you do not wish to create a video, you can help out by voting on current entries.
You can follow updates on Twitter by tracking the topic #TheLook09 or by following @TheLook09. Tickets for the fashion show are still available, and proceeds will support the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver’s youth department.
