Comox Valley Photowalking

Comments 14 by Rebecca Bollwitt

While John was called away to the Okanagan this weekend, I had to stay behind and finish up some work for our company. Luckily, by the time 4:00pm rolled around I was able to pack up for the weekend and join a certain Island girl for a ferry ride back to her hometown.

Today we covered a lot of ground, from Comox to Cumberland and enjoyed a most delicious meal at Atlas Cafe in Courtenay this evening.

Warning: The following contains a baked curry tortilla filled with corn, beans, mixed greens, roasted sweet chili yam, bell peppers & mozzarella, with tomato sauce & chipotle sour cream, and fire cracker rice.

I love my city but a part of that fondness exists because it has such accessibility to quick weekend getaways – from the Island to the interior and beyond. It’s enough to refresh the body & soul leaving you prepared for whatever a Monday morning might throw your way.

YUM!!! That food looks amazing…I’m hungry now. What camera are you using? Canon? The colors are very vivid 🙂

Thanks! I’m using my Fuji Finepix S2000HD and touching the pics up in iPhoto is needed (cropping etc.)

Normally food pics don’t do much for me, but the baked curry tortilla is, well, making me hungry. Is that Atlas or where…? Gotta know for next time I’m there.

As for loving your city… I’ve moved btw Van and Vic a few times, the grass is, and always will be, greener on the other side – but IMO you nailed it, proximity to so many great places from the B.C. coast makes all spots along the coast great places to call home.

For now I enjoy being 10 minutes from anywhere/anything in Vic but also being a 25 minute float plane/helijet ride from a Canucks game and/or a great dinner & party with friends in Van.

@Sean Yes, the enchilada was from Atlas, and apparently they have a sister bistro in Comox now called Avenue.

Love that part of the world. For a small area it has an amazing number of really great restaurants, the Atlas being one of them. Love the bookstore and art gallery as well.

Ummm.. why did the boarding pass say TUNA? Can’t say I’ve ever gotten that on any of my trips up to Sechelt through Langdale, or even my trip to Saltspring last month.

And have you called travelocity? It looks like the traveling gnome had a rough time the night before you took that picture. =)

Looks like an amazing city for a quick getaway. Weather certainly held up better for you than for me. Friends and I were up at Mt. Arrowsmith and most of the time we were in the clouds and couldn’t see much.

I love heading up there for a weekend, glad to see you had some nice weather. That plate of food looks delicious.

Yes, I, too, would like to know what camera you were using on the weekend to Courtenay.
