Win Tickets to Canadian Men’s Rugby at BC Place

Comments 35 by Rebecca Bollwitt

After a successful Canada Sevens tournament we know one thing for sure: Vancouver loves rugby! I grew up playing the sport in high school and to this day the spot holds a special place in my heart. If you caught the rugby fever earlier this spring, you have the opportunity to once again support the Canadian men’s rugby team (15 a side) on June 11th as they take on Japan at BC Place.

Canadian Men’s Rugby at BC Place

This will be the first time the Canadian 15s men’s squad will have ever played in BC Place Stadium, and if the turn-out from fans around the Men’s Sevens is any indication, our Canadian men can look forward to an electric fan atmosphere.

Tickets for this match are available via Ticketmaster and range from $20-$160 plus applicable fees and taxes. Doors open at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016 and kick off is at 3:00pm at BC Place.

The Japan-Canada match is the first in the set of three Summer Series matches that will see Canada take on Russia and Italy in Calgary and Toronto respectively. The series is particularly exciting as Team Canada introduces their new head coach, Mark Anscombe, the former New Zealand U-20 coach, who is committed to bringing rugby to the forefront in Canadian sports.

Japan is coming off of a thrilling Rugby World Cup where they knocked off rugby powerhouse South Africa in the pool stages and have begun preparations as they host the 2019 edition of the tournament. Canada has not won against Japan since 2005, and this match has the opportunity to be one of the most crucial matches for Canada. Considered to be traditional rivals, this is a match that will not disappoint.

I have a pair of tickets to give away to the game on June 11th, here’s how you can enter to win:

Outdoor activities, family fun, and creative culinary creations await in Prince George. Whether you want to mountain bike, hike or paddle, or sit back to enjoy live music and local berry wine, this hub in Northern BC has something for everyone. I had the pleasure of visiting the city twice this spring and have put together my list of 5 Things to do in Prince George This Summer:

Northern Hardware Canoe Race

Prince George - Nechako River
Participate in the Northern Hardware Prince George Canoe Race, the ultimate 35km paddle challenge in Northern BC on July 10th. Want to stay on dry land? Head to the festival on the sunny banks of the Fraser River at Lheidi T’enneh Memorial Park to welcome participants and enjoy the day’s festivities.

Dine Around Downtown

Nancy O's Prince George
Indulge with some delicious dining experiences in Prince George, from pulled pork and craft beer at Nancy O’s, to tapas at Twisted Cork, and decadent desserts at Ohh Chocolat.

Hike the Ancient Forest

The Ancient Forest
Explore BC’s newest provincial park! The Ancient Forest is the only known inland temperate rainforest in the world, and is home to a grouping of 800-2,000 year old cedars. Over 11,190 hectares have been preserved and there is a new 4,500 meter long plank pathway serving as the Ancient Forest Interpretive Trail.

Beer Tour / Wine Tour

Brewery Prince George
Among its many list of firsts, Pacific Western Brewing Company was BC brewery to offer canned beer back in 1965. It’s also Canada’s longest running, British Columbian-owned brewery established in 1957. You can book a Friday afternoon tour and trip to their tasting room to learn more.

In Prince George you’ll also find BC’s northernmost winery, Northern Lights Estate Winery, producing fruit wines including everything from locally-grown rhubarb and strawberries to honey berries, jostaberries, and even goji berries.

Summerfest in July

Prince George
Summerfest takes place Sunday, July 17 from 11:00am to 5:00pm, where thousands of fun-seekers will gather at 6th Avenue and George Street in front of Prince George City Hall. Celebrate the season with fun, food, activities and entertainment.
