Catch at Nat Bailey

How about a catch? Bring your own ball and glove to Nat Bailey Stadium, home of the Vancouver Canadians, for the annual Father’s Day Catch at the ‘Nat.

Historic Stewart Farm

Spend Father’s Day at Historic Stewart Farm. Get the family together at this gorgeous farm along the tidal river in South Surrey where you can enjoy train rides courtesy of the Pacific Trackless Trains, food from McGuire’s Patty Wagon food truck, games, and activities on the lawn, and lemonade on the farmhouse verandah.

Street Hockey

Play On!, the world’s largest street hockey tournament and sports festival will be at Coquitlam Centre the whole weekend (at Lincoln SkyTrain station). Register your team before June 12th for this fun four-on-four street hockey tournament that aims to help kids feel like NHL pros, and adults feel like kids again.

Laugh with dad! Get tickets for the Vancouver TheatreSports Super Dad Show on June 18th. The SuperDad Show pokes fun at all the foibles and complexities of what it means to be a father today. Ticket price is only $20 and includes the show PLUS either a glass of House Wine or Beer on Tap.

Wine & Swine

Does dad like wine and slow-roasted meats enjoyed at picnic tables? Book a ticket to the Father’s Day Wine & Swine at Township 7 Winery in Langley. This pairing event will include 3 new wine releases paired with bacony bites. This pork event will be prepared and served by the Water Shed Arts Cafe.

Car Free Day

Check out free community celebrations, some 10-20 blocks long, in neighbourhoods around the city during Car Free Day Vancouver. Live music, food, vendors, family activities and more will create a festival atmosphere on Main Street and at Kitsilano block parties on June 18th.

Pancake Breakfast

As a part of Lynn Valley Days, there’s a pancake breakfast at Lynn Valley Field at 10:00am. Afterward, enjoy rides, cotton candy, face painting, live music, dancing, food, bouncy castles, contests, community exhibitors and more with the family.

Fishing Derby

Take part in some free, fishy fun for the whole family at the annual Lafarge Lake Fishing Derby. Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC will be stocking Lafarge Lake in the morning with rainbow trout, so chances are high of reeling in a fish. Experts will also be on site teaching new techniques.

Playland

Dads get in FREE at Playland on June 18th from 10:00am to 12:00pm, giving them unlimited access to over 30 rides and attractions.

Lynn Valley Days: Win Tickets to the Family Dance

It first began 105 years ago and this summer is going to once again kick-off in style at Lynn Valley Days! Hosted by the Lynn Valley Lions Club, this three-day celebration brings together the community through dinner, dancing, a pancake breakfast, parade, and much more.

Lynn Valley Days 2017

Gala Dinner & Dance
Where: Under the big tent on Lynn Valley field
When: Friday, June 16th starting at 5:30 (cocktails) 7:00pm (dinner)

Details: This semi-formal gala will feature a cocktail reception followed by a three-course dinner with live music and dancing. Furnished lounge hosted by BOSA. Photobooth, wine and beer plus full bar. There are a variety of ticket levels to choose from: VIP includes dinner, two drink vouchers, live entertainment, late night snacks, and a limo home (within the Lynn Valley area). VIP with Friends is a table for 10 with all the perks of the VIP package, guaranteed seating all together, and $100 in ride tickets for the fair.

If you’d just like to attend the after-party with entertainment and dancing, there’s a ticket level for that too. It includes admission after 9:00pm, late night snacks, and a limo home (within the Lynn Valley area).

Lynn Valley Parade and Fair
Where: Lynn Valley Field
When: Saturday, June 17th starting at 9:30am (parade) & Sunday, June 18th
Details: The parade kicks off the fabulous entertainment of the Lynn Valley Day celebration. Lynn Valley Road will be closed from 9:15am to 11:15am, and detours will be in place. Parking by donation is available on Argyle Secondary School’s gravel field.

After the parade, enjoy rides, cotton candy, face painting, live music, dancing, food, bouncy castles, contests, community exhibitors and more, including a car show. On Sunday, June 18th arrive at 10:00am for the Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast.

Family Dance
Where: In the big tent at Lynn Valley Field
When: Saturday, June 17th
Details: Proudly presented by Mosaic Homes. This one is for the children – a night of family dancing and merriment under the big tent. Dance the night away with a DJ, snack on free tasty treats, get silly in the photobooth. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $25 per family, tickets available online here »

A VIP Weekend Pass for a family of 4 is just $150. It includes 4 x pancake breakfasts, unlimited fair rides, family dance, and beer garden entrance for the adults only. This pass can only be purchased online in advance before June 10th!

The inaugural Lynn Valley Day festival in 1912 dovetailed with the grand opening of the Lynn Canyon Park and Suspension Bridge, and festivities continued at the new Institute Hall on Mountain Highway after the ribbon cutting.

All proceeds from these events remain with the Lions Club to ensure they can assist those in need both local and beyond. Their beneficiaries include but are not limited to: School PAC Fundraising Program, Easter Chocolates for Seniors, Seniors Housing, Low Income Housing, Christmas Hampers, Ocean Legacy and more.

Big Splash Water Slide Park in Tsawwassen

With an overwhelming show of support when Splashdown closed last year, Executive Hotels and Resorts has responded by giving the Lower Mainland a totally revamped experience set to open in just a few days.

The 7-acre Big Splash Water Slide Park in Tsawwassen will introduce newly renovated pools and hot tubs, a new clubhouse, Vegas-style cabanas for private parties, BV’s Sports Bar and Grill, and much more. With the re-opening of the park, there will be an added convenience of a daily complimentary shuttle service to and from Downtown Vancouver.

With new landscaping, park layout and a sun splash patio with umbrella furniture perfect for sun-bathing or picnics, Big Splash promises to bring something new to the region. “We are building on top of the foundation that Splashdown built, and are adding a whole new look and feel to the water park for 2017,” says GM Harold Frederiks.

There will be a new, large adult-only hot tub along with adult-only Las Vegas style VIP areas, with a DJ and private viewing decks. All-day passes to the attraction will be $28 and special group rates will also be available. Admission will be free for children three-years-old and under.

Surrey Canada Day Lineup 2017

The patio chairs have been dusted off, picnic blankets unfurled and the Surrey Canada Day lineup has been released — summer is almost here! Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with over 100,000 others at one of the country’s largest Canada Day festivals.

Surrey Canada Day

Where: Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale (176 St & 64 Ave)
When: Saturday, July 1, 2017 10:00am to 11:00pm (fireworks at 10:30pm)
Admission: FREE! You can also purchase tickets for the midway rides, and snacks from the many food trucks and vendors on site.

Activities & Attractions

Games Land, Sports Zone, Science World, Storyville, Toddler Town, and a new zipline will bring the fun on Canada Day.

The Canada 150 Zone will include a variety of Canadian-themed activities and crafts and amazing local performances by First Nations performers, hoop dancers, French-Canadian artists and more. Make maple treats, get your face painted, meet Canadian artists, write a message on the Big Love Ball and more.

Olympic Heroes, Haggis Hunts and Family Festivals Take Over Coquitlam

What do famed Olympic sprinter Andre De Grasse, teddy bears, Charlotte Diamond and Scottish kilts have in common? These are all sightings you can expect to see in Coquitlam this June! Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a parent of young kids or a working professional in search of new adventures, get ready, get set…

1. See Andre De Grasse race
Watch as Canada’s fastest man takes to the track at Percy Perry Stadium in the hopes of posting a record run. Andre De Grasse, who made headlines at the Rio Olympics, will compete in Coquitlam on Wednesday, June 28 at The Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic.

Others to watch include Melissa Bishop, the Canadian indoor and outdoor 800-metre record holder, and decathlete Damian Warner, who won a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Hop off at Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station.

2. Get your Scottish kicks
Dig out the kilts and tartans and get ready to celebrate the BC Highland Games & Scottish Festival on Saturday, June 17 at Percy Perry Stadium (near Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain). You don’t need to have Scottish blood to enjoy the festivities, which includes highland bagpipers and dancers, drumming, heavy event athletes, food, whisky tasting, a beer garden, a haggis hunt, live music, Scottish delicacies and children’s activities.

3. Free family concert with Charlotte Diamond
Round up the kids for an outdoor concert experience as performers take the stage at the Town Centre Park Plaza on Saturday, June 10 (near Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station).

The entertainment begins with Tony Prophet at 3:00pm, Kellie Haines Ventriloquist at 3:45pm and Charlotte Diamond at 4:30pm. Don’t forget your teddy bears!

4. Teddy Bear Picnic Grande Parade
Cheer on the parade as it weaves its way throughout Coquitlam toward Town Centre Park, beginning at 9:45am on Sunday, June 11 (easily accessed by SkyTrain). The Teddy Bear Picnic kicks off at 11:00am, featuring storytelling, puppet shows, free balloons and face painting.

5. Free fishing derby at Lafarge Lake

6. Fraser Pacific Rose Society’s Rose & Floral Art Show
BC’s largest rose show is a juried event featuring hundreds of roses and horticultural exhibits plus free floral arrangement demos and guided tours. It all takes place at Dogwood Pavilion, 1655 Winslow Ave, on Saturday, June 10 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and Sunday, June 11 from 9:00am to 3:00pm (award ceremony on Sunday at 3:00pm).

7. Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On!
Interested in street hockey? The world’s largest street hockey tournament and sports festival is coming to Coquitlam Centre from June 17-18 (at Lincoln SkyTrain station). Register your team before June 12 for this fun four-on-four street hockey tournament that aims to help kids feel like NHL pros, and adults feel like kids again.

8. Daisy Day
A family-friendly event in Austin Heights (1000 Austin Ave) on Saturday, June 10 complete with children’s activities, prizes and a free pancake breakfast prepared by the Coquitlam Kinsmen. Enjoy performances throughout the day from Chapter 11, Fat Jazz, Five on a String, Disney singing princesses and a magician.

9. Saint-Jean Baptiste Day
Join in the French Canadian celebrations on Saturday, June 24, starting at Vancouver’s Canada Place from 10:00am Share this special “joie de vivre” as the fun moves to Chez Nous, 209 Lebleu St. in Maillardville, Coquitlam, from 5:00pm, featuring live music, sweet treats and family fun.

10. Snap a photo, win a prize?
Calling all adventurers! Have some fun while exploring Coquitlam this month. Summer Festival Highlights

Coquitlam Celebrates Canada 150 (July 1): Live music on two stages, a climbing wall and craft beer, all topped off with fireworks, at Town Centre Park.

CanWest Games (July 28-30): Watch as athletes compete in the largest Functional Fitness Competition in Western Canada. Complete with a vendor village and beer gardens.

Kaleidoscope Arts Festival (August 12): Music, theatre, dance, food trucks, craft beer and family-friendly entertainment will fill Town Centre Park. Bif Naked headlines the main stage, also featuring musical acts throughout the day including The Matinée.
