Today it was announced that Canada’s highly anticipated professional women’s soccer league will be called the Northern Super League (NSL). Diana Matheson, CEO and Co-Founder of Project 8, confirmed that clubs based in Ottawa and Montreal will join previously announced franchises in Halifax, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver

NSL Northern Super League

“We are thrilled to announce this update to soccer fans across Canada as we take a big step toward our season opener in April 2025,” said Matheson. “After years without a professional women’s domestic soccer league, the Northern Super League and its six founding clubs will fill a significant void in Canada and bring about meaningful change coast to coast. We are proud to launch with a name that will instill pride in all those who play and love the game. With a brand that is fresh, we welcome all who want to be a part of this exciting moment in Canadian sports history.”

About the League

  • All six Northern Super League clubs are owned and operated by independent ownership groups.
  • The Northern Super League will feature a 25-game regular season schedule followed by playoffs and a National Championship in Fall 2025.
  • All clubs will operate with a salary cap structure and minimum salaries aligned with established leagues worldwide.
  • While creating a home for Canadian players remains a key focus, the Northern Super League will also feature world-class international talent to help elevate the overall quality of play and drive further development.

The Northern Super League will kick off its inaugural season in April 2025 with six founding clubs from key markets nationwide. Follow the NSL on Facebook and Instagram for updates and info.

What Can Be Repaired

Volunteer fixers will be able to address items in the following categories:

  • Computers – repair & tech support: ie) desktops and laptops.

  • Cell Phones – Repairs are available only if a qualified cell phone repairer is on-site. For screen replacements, please bring a compatible screen for your specific phone model. Due to the difficult and fragile nature of cell phone repair, repairers cannot be held liable for any damage that may occur during the repair process.

  • Small appliances – ie) lamps, toasters, foot heaters, hair dryers, and fans.

    • Not accepted – items requiring alterations, hemming, bag repair, shoes. Some zipper repairs may not be possible due to complexity and time.
  • Bicycles – minor repairs and tune ups. Replacement parts such as cables or inner tube, must provide your own part(s)

Those with an appointment time will have first priority. Walk-ins will be seen on a first-come first-served basis, and only if there is time and fixer is available.

Repair Cafe events are presented by SPEC (Society Promoting Environmental Conservation) in partnership with the City of Vancouver. “The more we can repair, the longer products stay in circulation. The longer products stay in circulation, the less waste we produce.”

SPEC also offers the Inside the Vancouver Repair Guide. It’s a curated directory of local repair shops ready to breathe new life into your beloved items, from electronics to apparel.
