It’s always fun when a family comes together to create something for their community, and it’s even more special when they decide to support a great local cause while they’re at it. This season, Variety – The Children’s Charity of BC is the recipient of donations from two awesome haunted houses:

Where: 443 Draycott St, Coquitlam
About: This family-friendly haunted house is wheelchair accessible! Enjoy spooky attractions suitable for all ages, lights and lasers, pumpkins and ghouls, and much more. Last year, guests helped raise $9,025 for Variety. Help them reach $10,000 this year!

Forest Ridge Haunted Yard
When: October 10 to October 31, 2018 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Where: 2988 Forestridge Pl, Coquitlam
About: Forestridge Haunted Yard supports the Variety – The Children’s Charity with all donations going towards Variety. Lights on nightly, rain or shine! Live monsters will be on site on Halloween night. Follow #ForestridgeHauntedYard.

Variety Week

Today is the kick off of Variety Week on Global BC. We’re hoping to help 60 kids in BC with special needs every single day! From mobility equipment and specialized therapies, to things like hearing aids, adaptive bikes, education and mental health. Variety steps in where health care ends. A newlywed friend of mine once told me she’d get married again – to the same person – just for the ability to go check out more wedding shows since they were all just so fun. Well, I’m happy to tell her that one of best of the season is actually coming up soon as the Union LGBT+ Wedding Show takes over Heritage Hall in Mount Pleasant on November 17th.

Where: Heritage Hall (3102 Main St, Vancouver)
Tickets: Available online now for $10 + fees. The wonderful Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be greeting attendees at the door.

Union is Western Canada’s only LGBT+ wedding show! Guests will be able to browse and shop from exhibitors including cake makers, caterers, DJ’s, florists, makeup artists, musicians, officiants, photographers, and wedding planners. Find LGBT+ owned businesses, or businesses run by devoted allies of the Vancouver LGBT+ community all in one place — from graphic designers and venues to barbers and tailors.

Free Movies on Cineplex Community Day

Canadian movie-lovers, friends and families are invited to visit their local Cineplex theatre to enjoy a morning of free films for a great cause. For the eighth consecutive year, Cineplex Community Day will treat guests to a selection of popular movies, with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting the Company’s national charitable partner, WE Charity. WE Charity is part of WE – a family of organizations that makes doing good, doable.

Cineplex Community Day 2018No tickets are necessary, just show up! Cineplex theatres across Canada will open their doors at 9:00am with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. Movies will begin at 9:30am and all locations will return to regular programming in the afternoon.

Guests can enjoy concession items like popcorn, soft drinks and select candy for just $2.50 each and, in exchange for a $2.50 donation to WE Charity, all participating theatres will also be selling a variety of fun, movie-themed merchandise including plush toys, action figures, keychains, accessories, drink toppers, popcorn holders and more.
