Surrey Civic Theatres presents Merideth Kaye Clark Performs Joni Mitchell’s BLUE Album, on March 27th at the Surrey Arts Centre. Hailed as “a masterful performer” (BroadwayWorld.com) with “powerhouse pipes” (Seattle Times), Clark will perform Joni Mitchell’s iconic BLUE album from beginning to end while playing the guitar and dulcimer, accompanied by Mont Chris Hubbard on piano and violin.

Merideth Kaye Clark Performs Joni Mitchell’s Album BLUE

Where: Main Stage at Surrey Arts Centre (13750 88 Ave, Surrey)
When: March 27, 2019 at 7:30pm
Tickets: Available online now from $25 or by calling (604) 501-5566.

This emotionally resonant performance will give Joni Mitchell fans the opportunity to experience the album anew, while conjuring the magic and memories of their initial encounter with this timeless music about love and loss. Ethereal songstress Raine Hamilton will open the evening with her prism-clear vocals, accompanied by violin, guitar, cello, and double bass to create a resonant chamber folk sound.

Released in 1971, BLUE is Mitchell’s fourth album, comprised of a stunning suite of songs about romantic disillusionment that stands as a classic in the confessional singer/songwriter genre. Music journalists from Rolling Stone to the New York Times to NPR regard it among the greatest albums ever recorded. In this homage to Mitchell’s exceptional album, Clark’s soaring vocals and evident emotional connection to the work shine through, giving the audience “the gift of hearing the music as it was intended to be heard,” (BroadwayWorld.com).

Dining Out for Life 2019

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, dine out for breakfast, lunch or dinner at participating restaurants and support people living with HIV/AIDS right here at home.

View all participating restaurants here »

From Whistler to White Rock and across the Lower Mainland, fantastic restaurant partners will contribute 25% of their food sales to A Loving Spoonful. All proceeds directly benefit the programs and services they provide free-of-charge, including:

  • An average 100,000 meals per year delivered by volunteers to those affected by HIV/AIDS in Metro Vancouver and surrounding regions
  • Nutritional counselling and meal planning
  • Easter Sundays where chefs donate their time to cook for a group of 50-60 people
  • Family Pantry Program where families receive fruits, vegetables, and other pantry essentials.
  • Snack Packs all clients receive: fresh fruit, yogurt, bread, juice, milk and more

HIV/AIDS IN BC: In 2011, the Public Health Agency of Canada estimated 71,300 people living with HIV/AIDS in Canada — with over 25% residing in British Columbia. Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside maintains the highest HIV prevalence in the Western world, reaching as high 27%.

While new infection rates in B.C. have thankfully decreased, advanced therapies mean people with HIV/AIDS are living longer and the number of people who depend on the services of A Loving Spoonful continues to grow.
For every $3.55 raised, a healthy meal will be provided to someone in need, right here in our community!

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, join thousands of people across the Lower Mainland who are doing good by dining out. Make it a day to remember with family, friends and your community. Why not invite your friends to dine out as well?
