CatVideoFest is coming to Vancouver with a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and, of course, classic internet powerhouses!

CatVideoFest

The 70-minute-reel of cat videos is family-friendly and can be enjoyed by anyone. The wide demographic appeal allows for it to be shown in virtually any type of setting – from museums to theatres to outdoor festivals and beyond all over the world. In Vancouver, the VIFF Vancity theatre will be home to this one-day event.

DanceHouse presents  MOMIX (US), an astounding company of ‘dance-illusionists’, in the Canadian premiere of Viva MOMIX, on stage in Vancouver April 12 & 13, 2019.

DanceHouse Presents MOMIX: Viva MOMIX

Where: Vancouver Playhouse (600 Hamilton St, Vancouver)
When: April 12 & 13, 2019 at 8:00pm
Tickets: From $35, available online or call (604) 801-6225

Helmed by Artistic Director Moses Pendleton, one of America’s most innovative choreographers and directors, MOMIX is revered for its ability to conjure a surreal world using props, light, shadow, humour, and the human body. Viva MOMIX celebrates the best of more than three decades of works, with a selection of company favourites mixed with three new creations.

Developed in 2015 in honour of MOMIX’s 35th anniversary season, Viva MOMIX features stunning vignettes from six of their iconic productions: MOMIX in Orbit, Botanica, Lunar SeaReMIX, Classics, and Opus Cactus, alongside scenes from three new works created for the company’s birthday celebration at Teatro Nazionale in Milan, Italy — Daddy Long LegLight Reigns, and Paper Trails. Praised for its beguiling, eye-filling, and impressive visual and movement theatrics” (The Wall Street Journal), Viva MOMIX will transport audiences on a journey into a surreal fantasy. Elements of the natural world — animal, plant, and mineral — are transmuted through the technical prowess of nine gifted artists who shape their bodies into creations that suspend the rational mind and replace it with wonder and a glorious sense of play.

YVR Airport Named Best in North America for 10th Consecutive Year

Add a Comment by Rebecca Bollwitt

YVR is the kind of airport you go to even when you don’t have a flight booked. You might visit to watch flights land, enjoy a free summertime family event, stroll through some green space, or even for Afternoon Tea.

Today, the Vancouver International Airport (“YVR“) is thrilled to share that they have once again been named Best Airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards. Recognized as the global benchmark of airport excellence, this marks YVR’s 10th consecutive year receiving this accolade (here’s the post I wrote about their first award of the series back in 2010).

YVR is the Best Airport in North America

Skytrax also recognized Changi Airport, which was voted the World’s Best Airport for 7th consecutive year at the 2019 World Airport Awards.

Cape Town won for Best Airport in Africa, Singapore Changi is best in Asia, Brisbane is tops in Australia & the Pacific, and Shanghai Hongqiao is the best in China. In Europe, Munich is #1, and Lima is the best in South America. View the full list here »

In other categories, Tokyo Haneda won for World’s Cleanest Airport, Zurich won for best Security Screening, London Heathrow has the best airport shopping in the world, and the best airport dining is in Hong Kong.

While Vancouver is ranked 17th overall in the world this year, it’s #1 in our hearts. They also have the BEST social media team, according to me, and I highly recommend you give them a follow on Facebook and Twitter.
