It was 4 years ago today that I walked into BC Place and received my credentials as the City of Vancouver’s official blogger for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Not since the Vancouver 2010 Olympics had I been so proud to put a lanyard around my neck and check out the best athletes from around the world.
This year’s World Cup is in France, and while it’s not the same as being in our local stadium or at a public celebration and viewing site down the street, you can watch all the action at Library Square Public House.

Join alumni from Canada’s Women’s Soccer team as they cheer on Canada during the 2019 Women’s World Cup match against New Zealand on Saturday June 15th.
Team Canada will kick off their second qualifying group match at 12:00pm, and the event will run until 5:00pm, with the unique opportunity to mix, mingle, and chat with Team Canada alumni about their experiences and this year’s World Cup.
Each $25 ticketincludes a burger and a beer with proceeds from the event benefitting Canada Women’s Soccer and the programs they run. All ages are welcome to attend, and everyone is encouraged to wear their Canada gear and show their pride as they cheer Canada together.

It’s been a local tradition for generations, and from its humble beginnings as a hemp rope crossing with cedar planks, to a world class attraction, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is Vancouver’s original tourist destination. In 2019, the bridge celebrates its 130th anniversary, with history, culture, and striking natural beauty – not to mention fun for the whole family.
Join Vancouver TheatreSports for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16th for The SuperDad Show – a special matinee performance in celebration of an often unsung hero.

When: Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 2:00pm Where: The Improv Centre (1502 Duranleau St, Vancouver) Tickets:Available online for $25
The SuperDad Show pokes fun at the foibles and challenges of what it means to be a modern Dad. Based on audience suggestions, VTS’ quick-witted improvisers could explore such timeless themes as ‘two-Dad families’, ‘Dads and their love affair with the barbecue’, ‘hockey Dads’, ‘Dad, can I have the keys to the car?’ or ‘Dads and daughters’ in belly laugh-inducing scenarios. Audience members can bask in familiar phrases or ‘Dadisms’ such as “Do you think I’m made of money?”, “When I was your age…”, “You’re not going out in that, are you?”, and the classic “You’ll understand when you’re older.”
This special family-friendly show takes place at 2:00pm so there’s plenty of time afterward to take Dad out for dinner or to fire up the barbecue. Tickets are value-priced at only $25 and include the show PLUS either a glass of house wine, beer on tap, or non-alcoholic beverage. Tickets are on sale now at vtsl.com.
The Neil Macrae Bar & Lounge at The Improv Centre will open that day at 1:00pm for pre-show beverages and, weather permitting, the patio deck overlooking the picturesque marina will also be open to patrons.

The Steveston Salmon Festival, at 74 years strong, is better than ever, with activities extending from Britannia Shipyards to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, and encompassing its traditional home in Steveston Park, for a truly epic Canada Day celebration on July 1st.
Steveston Salmon Festival celebrates Canada Day
Headlining the Main Stage, presented by TD Bank, will be Canadian rock radio mainstays, 54-40. Vancouver’s own Bend Sinister and Steveston staples Urban Myth and Line 49 will also hit the stage to help celebrate Canada’s birthday.
The music won’t stop there, Steveston Village will host nine stages with over 50 performances, highlighting some of the best local talent Richmond and the Lower Mainland has to offer.
Returning will be the crowd favourites; the region’s largest Canada Day parade, preceded by a children’s bicycle parade, the longstanding and mouth-watering traditions of the salmon barbecue and chow mein feast, plus the Japanese Cultural Show, Trade Show, Horticultural Show and much more.
Festival goers will have a chance to check out Sammy’s Fun Zone, featuring carnival fun for the whole family and a stage with kid-friendly performances all day. Stop over at the car show for a peek at some of the Lower Mainland’s finest vintage rides, and enjoy a performance by Elvis!
To cap off a day of celebration the Steveston Village, proud Canadians can line the waterfront to enjoy a fantastic fireworks show, presented by Dueck GM. All events are free admission! Follow Fun Richmond on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagam for more info.
