Black Friday
Metropolis at Metrotown’s 7th annual Black Friday Weekend starts at 8:00am on Friday, November 29th. There will be amazing deals and promotions offered to shoppers throughout the entire weekend. Bargain hunters won’t need to go far to get the best deals this holiday season, with several retailers offering early bird door crasher specials from 8:00am to 10:00am.
Early morning mall access will be available through the entrance closest to Customer Service Ground Level, near NYX Professional Makeup, which will open at 6:00am. All other mall entrances will open at 6:30am.
As BC’s largest shopping centre, with over 375 stores, Metropolis will also stay open late on Black Friday, until 10:00pm!

Holiday Shopping at Metropolis at Metrotown
Convenient and easy, two words that you’ll associate with holiday shopping at Metropolis at Metrotown! Here are just a few ways that your retail experience will be a breeze this season:
Text Guest Services: Shoppers can text (604) 359-9111 to reach Metropolis’ Guest Services for assistance while in the mall or planning their trip to the mall. Inquire about finding a store, mall hours, parking, children’s stroller, and more. This service is available during mall hours.
Photos with Santa: Metropolis’ popular Photos with Santa program starts Friday, November 15 and runs until December 24, 2019. With a minimum donation of $4 per photo, visitors will receive a digital photo with Santa, with proceeds benefiting the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Shoppers are encouraged to visit Santa earlier in the season as wait times are less.
Gift Wrap Services: Burnaby Neighbourhood House and MS Society of BC/Yukon will be offering gift wrapping services by donation starting November 29th to December 24th. All proceeds will go back to the charities. Gift wrap booths are located in front of The Disney Store on the Ground Level, and in front of Plenty on the Upper Level.
Metropolis Gift Card: Metropolis’ gift card is available for purchase at Guest Services and their dedicated holiday gift card kiosks. They are redeemable throughout the mall, as well as 22 other Ivanhoe Cambridge shopping centres across Canada. The gift card is also available for purchase online »

VTS’ holiday special parodies all the inane clichés and tropes you would expect to see in any popular holiday TV special or film. In this instance, the fairy-tale romance is made even more unbelievable by building the plot around an impending Royal Wedding in a heretofore unknown small country – ‘Improvanzia’. Will the dashing Prince Rudolf fall for the beauteous, but non-royal, Meaghan Sparkle? How will the Royal Parents react? How will the suburban in-laws-to-be fit in with the posh Royal Relatives?
Overseen by Chris Garland, famous celebrity wedding planner, this romcom parody sees VTS improvisers use audience suggestions to create on-the-spot, never-to-be-repeated comedic versions of stereotypical romcoms as well as Royal Wedding characters and situations. Flashbacks will take the audience to key moments in the couple’s courtship and the action moves forward to the day of the wedding – ‘Kissmas Day’.

When I was a child my family used to go for a drive to look at Christmas lights in New Westminster, which also usually included a stop to get some hot chocolate. The beautiful Queen Anne, Edwardian, and Arts & Crafts style homes near Queen’s Park looked just like Bedford Falls in It’s a Wonderful Life, all lit up for the holidays. It’s so fitting that you can see this classic, with a modern twist, on stage in the Royal City this season.
