It’s one of the most popular attraction in the province and now the date is set for the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park reopening! Starting June 19th, you can book your tickets for entry on a specific date at a specific time, in order to limit the number of guests at the Park at any one time.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Reopening
When: Reopening Friday, June 19, 2020. Open 9:00am to 6:00pm daily. Admission: Book tickets online in advance for a specific time slot.
Additional safety measures are:
To ensure physical distancing and sanitization standards are maintained, new COVID-19 related safety signage features Scout, the safety squirrel, throughout the Park.
Guests will explore the Park in a one-way direction. Suspension Bridge traffic will alternate regularly.
Hand sanitizer stations are located in multiple locations throughout the Park, including all attractions. Increased sanitization practices are in place.
Guests may not enter the Park if they display any symptoms of COVID-19.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park BC Annual Pass holders will have the exact amount of time left on their passes as they did March 17, 2020. No days will be lost. Pass holders will need to book their times too, and can do so here.
To enhance the park experience, the Park will feature live music, Raptors Ridge Birds of Prey and a new Kids’ Rainforest Explorer app will be available for download on your mobile devices.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will again be offering its free shuttlethis summer running to and from downtown Vancouver every 30 minutes. Physical distancing measures will be in place with restricted seating.
The Bridge House Cafe is also offering a car-hop/take-out menu. The Trading Post gift shop will reopen later in the summer.

June 19 marks “Juneteenth” – also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day – an annual holiday that commenced in 1865. Following the two recent Black Lives Matters protests, one at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square at the Vancouver Art Gallery and the other at the Olympic Cauldron, many members of the community have advocated for a march in unity; it is not only emotionally expressive but holds immense power, history and tradition, and is a powerful tool to create change and express community values.
From the organizers: “Though Canadian, we cannot ignore the direct ties that many of our citizens have with our neighbouring Americans below; this makes the celebration of Juneteenth just as important for us as it is for them.”
Ways to Help
Black Lives Matters t-shirts (pressed by North Vancouver’s Get Bold) will be handed out by volunteers at the march with the purpose to keep sparking conversations once people head home to their own communities, circles and families. Following the march, a stage will be set up at Sunset Beach Park where Black artists and speakers will be performing and addressing the crowd. Black-owned businesses will also be at the site to showcase local Black culture, soul food and more.
Those wishing to participate in the march are also reminded to take COVID-19 precautions and to wear masks, and monitor for possible symptoms in the two weeks after the march.

The best patio in the Fraser Valley is opening up again! Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has announced that select MATCH Eatery & Public House locations will reopen for dine-in and takeout service. Over the next couple of weeks, MATCH will be phasing the reopening of locations across Canada, starting with Langley on Monday, June 8, 2020 and Courtenay on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Guests will be able to enjoy the signature patios, each featuring their own bar area, booth and table seating, warm woods and signature red accents, and outdoor fire tables. Daily Happy Hour specials (starting at 4:00pm) and fan favourites like half-price Wine Wednesday and daily features are also back.
Waitlist and Digital Menus
MATCH has implemented a new virtual queue system that will allow guests to text to join the waitlist and safely wait in their vehicles until their table is ready. “This system will allow our staff to properly prepare the dining room for each guest, and ensure there is no congestion at the entrance as guests wait to be seated, ” says Pollock. This system will also allow guests to receive the menu digitally on their own personal device.
Additional Safety Protocols
Restaurants will reduce seating capacities to 50% in order to comply with public health guidelines for safe distancing and allow for minimum of six feet between each seated group/party of guests.
All tables, chairs and all tabletop items are sanitized between each seating. All high touch areas are sanitized frequently throughout the day. Employee wellness will be checked at the beginning of each shift and no employee is allowed in the restaurant with any flu-like symptoms.
Low and no contact payment is required. For the safety of guests and team we will not be accepting cash payments at this time. A separate reduced contact section will be designated for take-out and delivery options. You can view MATCH’s safety commitment here.

For 84 years it has been a summer seaside staple but for its 85th season the Kitsilano Showboat is going virtual beginning Saturday, June 27th then live online every Wednesday in July at 7:05pm.

On June 27th the Showboat celebrates National Multicultural day with two great performances. Kitsilano Showboat History
In 1935, the Kitsilano Showboat was founded by Bert Emery. That same year the new Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce organized its first evening of events which included swimming, diving, acrobatics and other entertainment. As the Showboat began during the depression, performers also benefitted as they were not able to secure jobs during those hard times. Made up completely from volunteers, the Showboat has provided free entertainment for 85 years. The iconic outdoor stage, built in 1954, represents a Mississippi River showboat.
