You may have seen their iconic mini pumpkin soft serve on an Instagram or TikTok video and you can rest assured those sweet treats (and more) are back this year for the 7th annual Maan Farms Fall Festival in Abbotsford. They’ve got baby goats, corn mazes, dog days, and of course a pumpkin patch.

VIP tickets ($45) include admission to the Barnyard Adventureland, Daytime Corn Maze, and Pumpkin Patch; a pumpkin; a bag of animal feed; a slushie or glass of wine; bag of six mini donuts; a come-back pass to be used by October 29.

Covenant House Vancouver wants young people to walk out their doors more secure, stable, and confident than when they walked in. Their long-term model of care gives youth the opportunity to build a strong foundation as they move towards adulthood.
Through their Rights of Passage Program, they provide youth with safe, affordable housing and support as they transition to independent living.

Rights of Passage (“ROP”) is a comprehensive housing program that supports youth who wish to transition to independent living.
The festival is presenting a strong selection of works by Indigenous creators, with Courtney Montour’s short doc Mary Two-Axe Earley: I Am Indian Again, Terril Calder’s animated Meneath: The Hidden Island of Ethics, as well as two new works from the NFB’s Labrador Documentary Project: Ossie Michelin’s Evan’s Drumand Jennie Williams’ Nalujuk Night.
There’s also award-winning NFB co-produced animation, with Claude Cloutier’s latest, Bad Seeds (Mauvaises herbes) (L’Unité centrale/NFB), and Sandra Desmazières’ Flowing Home (Nhu môt dòng song) (Les Films de l’Arlequin/NFB).
We’re back to school, the sunflower festival has closed for another season, and the leaves are starting to turn. However, the corn mazes and pumpkin patches are opening, theatre and film festivals are ramping up, and there’s a solid lineup of outdoor fun on the calendar. Vancouver Opera has announced the return of live performances for the 2021–2022 season. They will present two days of outdoor performances at the šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn (formerly QET Plaza) on September 18 and 19, 2021 (1:00pm to 4:00pm each day) followed by three extraordinary operas at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre starting in December.

Vancouver Opera Performances This Fall & Beyond

The Vancouver Opera 2021–2022 season offers a range of works with an opportunity to integrate contemporary dance and showcase the talented Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
Opening the 2021–2022 season in December is a Vancouver Opera premiere and first collaboration with Ne. Sans Opera and The Dance Centre, Orfeo Ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck. In February, two performances of Cavalleria Rusticana in Concert by Pietro Mascagni will welcome back Music Director Emeritus Jonathan Darlington to conduct the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus. The final production of the season is the wildly popular HMS Pinafore, a hilarious journey of forbidden love by Gilbert and Sullivan.

This exquisite opera follows the ancient Greek myth of Orfeo, a divinely gifted musician and poet, who moves the deities of the Underworld with the beauty of his music and poetry to lead his love Euridice back to the world of the living. This timeless story of love is conducted by Leslie Dala and directed and choreographed by Idan Cohen as a celebration of opera and contemporary dance. This production is a Vancouver Opera premiere and marks the first collaboration with Ne. Sans Opera and The Dance Centre. This beloved masterpiece, Cavalleria Rusticana in Concert delivers intense passion, memorable music and incredible arias. This one-act opera, performed live and in concert, welcomes back Music Director Emeritus Jonathan Darlington to conduct the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Featured performers are Othalie Graham as Santuzza, David Pomeroy as Turridu, and Gregory Dahl as Alfio.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedic tale is a delightful combination of forbidden love across class divides and the shenanigans that take place along the way. Poking fun at social hierarchies and packed with absurd characters, this wildly popular operetta delivers plenty of laughs and memorable music. This joyful production is directed by Brenna Corner and conducted by Rosemary Thomson and features the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
