So Shaw is getting into the phone biz while Telus is heading to TV land. Since I don’t have a landline i don’t really care about phone service, although i do have cable so perhaps Telus could offer some competitive deals/packages in the future. They’ve never been my favourite company – with all the labour disputes, crappy customer service/wait times (because they laid off so many reps) and overall unpleasant experiences. There are arguments for either side/either mega-company. I’m just glad those darn Hippo commercials aren’t airing anymore.
My niece (the cutest most beautiful and smartest 5 year old ever – family traits, really :p) is home sick from Kindergarden today. My sis said that she was upset and crying because she wanted to go to school so badly. Poor girl – I can see that attitude changing in the years to come but for now, poor girl.
Laura lives in an older building in the westend, on the west side of Denman. She’s been without hot water/heat/cable/electricity for 2 days now. She called me the other night while walking up 7 flights of stairs in the dark – the emergency lights weren’t even on. The issue was caused by reno crews who are there to repair water damage made by a leak LAST SUMMER. There are some people in her building that cannot walk up/down 7+ flights of stairs so they’ve been shut in without all of those ammenities for days. I keep telling her to move, not sure why she won’t….I mean there’s always suites available in our building 😉

And while John is still drooling over the latest gadgets announced by Steve-o yesterday, there are a few more companies attempting to adapt to the iCraze. i want me some iJeans to wear with my iBoxers. And in daily sleeze – Lindsay Lohan is messed up and Angelina Jolie has a bun in the oven. Thanks Laura/Chris for these fascinating tidbits, my day is now complete :p

hello out there…

We made it out mid-second period. Walked up to the place with the food and beer that we go to and saw the 3-2 score. There were quite a few Leafs fans in the room to enjoy this hard hitting, call-up-reigning, back and forth game. i was surprised when we had a turnover/bad pass in the 3rd period because Jovo wasn’t anywhere near the ice :p Burrows, Bouck, Kesler, Park – all stepping up and man do those vintage jerseys look sharp. We were so hungry that we got lost in our food for a lil bit but got right back on track to watch the Canucks win their 3rd straight, 4-3.

Anne’s msn display pic this morning is of a penguin Peek-a-Pooh. Anne (a different one) from my office got us hooked on this craze just before Christmas. They’re besically lil Winnie the Pooh trinket/figurines on a string that you can attach to your cell/purse/keychain – dangle anywhere really. But it’s Winnie in an animal costume. Mine’s a bumblebee. Anne (not office anne, Toronto Anne) got hooked during her visit out here when she acquired her hamster-pooh.

It’s now time for coffee and waking up – although i’m already at work… Tim Ho, Bucks or Blenz? what a life…

pc load letter – wtf?

This morning a bus – that had maybe 5 people standing in it – drove RIGHT past my stop and kept going. There were about 5 of us at the stop and it had even stopped at the last one to let people on/off. Sometimes… if the bus is REALLY full on a rainy morning it will do that, but there’s always another bus right behind as overflow. Not today, he just cruised on by – making me 10 mins late for work….ugh… I live just the right amount of distance from work where if i commit to taking the bus at 8:15, i need to take the bus because walking would get me there 15-20 mins later and the bus would take only about 10 mins. So by the time this bus passed me at 8:18, i was pretty much SOL. Hoof it to work and be couple mins late and out of breath, or just wait for the next one and be lil more fashionably late… meh, at least it wasn’t raining.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in town tonight. The rivalry between the Leafs and the Canucks is like the Yankees and Red Sox. One always considered an underdog, two major cities in the country, and well… we just have a slight dislike for Toronto (and everything Toronto) around here. It’s front page news today and i would really give anything to be at that game tonight – so full of excitement and it’s bound to be excellent canadian hockey.
John’s freakin out about MacWorld today and all the announcements, rumours, and the KeyNote (which is coming up soon). I was never much of a Mac girl. In grade 9 Computer Studies (where I was the only student who got an “A”…a 99% “A” at that…) we “programmed” on Apple II GS‘s. Those were the days – especially because I remember playing Cross Country Canada on those same Apples in grade 5 😐

Yesterday we went over to Horseshoe Bay, to the Boathouse with my mom for brunch. It was really chilly out but sitting there on the water looking at the ferries come and go, looking up at the majestic snow-capped mountains…man it was nice. John hadn’t been over there yet so i thought while we have a car and a nice mom to have lunch with – why not get out of downtown. We also ventured over to the Lonsdale Quay afterwards to soothe a sweet tooth.
We had tickets to the Giants game last night and had to be home in time to transit over there etc. So at about 5:45pm I’m thinking we have to get ready to leave soon, I grab the tickets and realize– oh %^&! the game was at 5:00pm! I felt so incredibly stupid – we both assumed it would be at 7/7:30….but no… and by the time we hopped in a cab or a bus to get down there, we’d catch maybe 1 period. I’m reading this morning that it was a nice blowout for the Giants… would have been nice to see…gaw! I think we’re going to get tickets for Friday’s game since my sister was planning on going, we could arrange a car pool yada yada finally actually make it there…for 7:30.

We woke up at 9am (on my day off….on my birthday) because as John said jokingly – Looks like Mike Holmes and his crew were apparently commissioned for a demo this morning – right above our heads. I have no idea what on earth they could be doing. installing a hardwood floor? drywall? dunno who would need to hammer a dozen nails every 30 seconds for an hour at 9 o’clock Monday morning above my sleepy birthday head.

I’ve had a great birthday weekend, from Friday until today – and I swear I won’t blog any more about it hehe…but i still have 12.5 hours of birthday to enjoy – even though I REALLY wanted to check out the Museum of Anthropology today but nooo they’re closed Mondays 😐 So…now we’re getting ready to head over to White Rock to meet up with my Dad and his Mum for lunch.

Ooh! I need to remember to go to my local elections office this afternoon and make sure i’m registered. I didn’t get a card at my old surrey address and I haven’t yet received one here… so yes, it will be a productive day.

And now… I need a coffee…a birthday coffee with a candle in it.
