Broadway Across Canada has announced their line-up of touring musicals that they’ll be bringing to Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre in 2014 and 2015.

Season Special: Wicked

May 28th to June 29th, 2014
Back by “popular” demand. Variety calls Wicked “a cultural phenomenon,” and when it last played Vancouver in 2011, it broke box office records. Winner of over 50 major award, including a Grammy® and three Tony Awards®, Wicked is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times).

Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for “the most complete – and completely satisfying – musical in a long time.” (USA Today). *Wicked is a season special and an optional ticket purchase for Season Subscribers.

Flashdance- The Musical features a score that includes the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award®-winning title song “Flashdance – What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” and “I Love Rock & Roll.” In addition to these hits, 16 brand new songs have been written for the musical with music by Robbie Roth and lyrics by Robert Cary and Robbie Roth.

Dine Out Vancouver 2014: Free Soup

Comments 1 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Take 50 Vancouver chefs, invite them to an event, ask them each to bring an ingredient, and toss all of the items into a collective pot and create a symphony of local flavour and flare.

The Chef Soup Experiment is taking place on Friday, January 17th on Granville Island as student chefs at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts chop, season, stir and cook the ingredients to perfection. They will then serve samples free of charge to the public before it all runs out.

When: Friday, January 17, 2014 soup is served at 12:30pm

Michelle Kim will be there to capture the morning’s activities, leading up to the soup’s creation, and I’ll have updates and photos of her to share later on in the day. In the meantime, head down to Granville Island for lunch. Everyone is welcome but get there early, since the kitchen shuts down when the soup runs out.
