Stanley Park Train 50th Anniversary
From 10:00am to 5:00pm daily, train rides will be $5 per person and visitors can enjoy free entertainment and activities such as:
An interactive CinemaZoo animal display, an inflatable bouncy train, face painting, BC Metis Federation Dancers, stilt walkers, train themed crafts, a Vancouver Aquarium display, Firefighters BBQ & display (Saturday only), Vancouver Public Library Story Bus (Sunday only) and more.
Stanley Park Miniature Railway Facts
When the original miniature railway began in 1947 is featured only a child-size train. The current adult-size train opened in 1964.
The area for the miniature railway was cleared naturally when Typhoon Freda wiped out a 6-acre virgin tract behind the children’s zoo in October of 1962.
The train is a replica of Canadian Pacific Railway #374, famous for pulling Canada’s first transcontinental passenger train into Vancouver in the late 1880s. [Source]
It carries 200,000 passengers a year on a 2km circuit.
In late June the train will be transformed into the summertime “Spirit Catcher” train in partnership with Klahowya Village in Stanley Park, which will run until September.

The Arts Club is celebrating a spectacular milestone with its Bravo 50th Benefit, happening June 7th on Granville Island.
Bravo 50th Benefit for The Arts Club
Celebrate 50 years of artistic excellence at the Arts Club and help raise funds for the years to come.
The event will showcase artists, patrons, and community partners for a one-night-only stroll down memory lane. Saluting the past but looking into the future, all funds raised at this special evening go to the Arts Club’s youth and artistic development programs.
There will be a red carpet entrance starting at 7:00pm on Saturday, June 7th followed by a champagne toast with Vancouver’s favourite DJ, Red Robinson in the upper lobby between 7:30pm and 8:00pm. Hosted by Jackson Davies, Gabrielle Rose, Todd Talbot, and Deborah Williams, Cue the Memories will begin at 8:30am. This performance will highlight The Arts Club’s 50-year history with an all-star cast selected by Bill Millerd, Artistic Managing Director.
Cue the Memories, with Musical director Bruce Kellett and his combo, will include Leon Bibb, Ann Mortifee, Ruth Nichol, and Pat Rose from the original cast of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, joined by Sara-Jeanne Hosie, Warren Kimmel, Jane Mortifee, Zachary Stevenson, Sibel Thrasher, as well as special surprise appearances and songs from Ain’t Misbehavin’, Cabaret, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, Mary Poppins, Les Misérables, Red Rock Diner, and Reflections on Crooked Walking.*

The party will continue at the Backstage Lounge at 10:30pm with a live band fronted by Zachary Stevenson (Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story) along with dancing, celebratory cocktails, late-night treats, and a silent auction.

Seating is limited for this special occasion so make sure to get your tickets now. They can be puchased for $150 for the show and after-party, for which you will receive a $100 tax receipt. Tax receipts will be issued after the event.
Win Tickets
The Arts Club has always been so supportive and accommodating, and I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with them for various promotions over the last seven years at least. They have offered up a pair of tickets ($300 value) to one lucky Miss604 reader and their guest to join their celebration. Here’s how you can enter to win:
- Leave a comment naming an Arts Club show, past or present (1 entry)
- Post the following on Twitter (1 entry)
I will draw one winner at random from all entries at 12:00pm on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Must be 19+. *All programming is subject to change. Follow The Arts Club on Twitter and Facebook for more information.
Update The winner is Bonnie are!
