TransLink, Modo, Evo, and Mobi by Rogers are testing a new app called RideLink that will bring together transit, carshare, and bikeshare services. The app aims to make planning, booking, and paying for trips easier and more convenient.

RideLink App
Currently available to a limited number of people for a trial period, it will eliminate the need for using several different apps or websites to provide a truly multi-modal experience. The RideLink App will also help with:
Trip planning with transit, carshare, and bikeshare options with real-time information about vehicle and bike locations.
Simple booking and payments for carshare and bikeshare services.
Easy registration for Evo, Modo, and Mobi Bike services.
An upgraded Compass Card to tap into transit, Evo, and Modo vehicles as well as Mobi Bikes at bikeshare stations.
With over 200,000 registered users of bikeshare and carshare in Metro Vancouver, this new app will allow users to easily transfer between transit and each mode, with the goal of encouraging even more users to consider multi-modal journeys.
As part of the next phase of the trial, TransLink is accepting applications for 1,300 people to test the new multi-modal app. Feedback will be gathered from participants over a one-year period on the usability and ease of integration between the services.
This feedback will determine whether the app will become permanent in the future.
“People will consider multi-modal transportation much more often if they can use one single app to plan, book and pay for their travel throughout the city, instead of needing to consult with several different apps to figure out where to sign up for a bike, or find a carshare that connects to the transit system,” says Kevin Quinn, TransLink CEO.
“This is the first step in creating a truly seamless multi-modal experience and decreasing reliance on car ownership.”
TransLink’s partnership with Modo, Evo, and Mobi came out of the inaugural Open Call for Innovation in June 2018, with the intention of making multimodal travel more convenient and seamless.
To be eligible to participate in the trial, applicants must be at least 19 years old, have a valid driver’s licence, a valid credit card, and a smartphone. Those who are interested in using multiple mobility services are more likely to be selected for the trial.

City Opera Vancouver presents the Canadian premiere of composer Missy Mazzoli’s contemporary masterpiece Song from the Uproar: The Lives and Deaths of Isabelle Eberhardt – and you can enter to win tickets. One of the most adventurous women of her era, the opera tells the extraordinary life story of the complex, multifaceted Eberhardt, using her own journals as a basis for its libretto.

Song from the Uproar: The Lives and Deaths of Isabelle Eberhardt
Dates: February 29 & March 2 at 7:30pm; March 3, 2024 at 2:00pm
Location: York Theatre (639 Commercial Drive. Vancouver)
“Eberhardt lived during an age of adventure. And yet, her name is much less familiar than contemporaneous male explorers such as Shackleton or Livingstone. In fact, for much of her writing and travels, she had to do so in the guise of a man,” says Gordon Gerrard, Artistic Director, City Opera Vancouver. “To be forgotten in such a way is a disservice to this remarkable figure, who not only left a legacy of daring tales – but also profound, powerful insights in her writing. Librettists Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek have done great justice in bringing awareness to Eberhardt – and City Opera could not be more honoured to be the first company in Canada to share it.”

This year’s festival features an exclusive excerpt from Dancers of Damelahamid’s upcoming full-length work, Raven Mother, created in honour of the late Elder Margaret Harris, co-founder of Dancers of Damelahamid in 1967. The culmination of generations of artistic and cultural work, Raven Mother is the group’s most ambitious production to date.
Dancers of Damelahamid will be joined by a host of the festival’s signature artists and performance groups, including returning favourites: a family group of grandmothers, mothers, and daughters, Chesha7 iy lha mens (Skwxwu7mesh, Stó:lō, Tsimsian); dynamic dance group Chinook Song Catchers (Skwxwu7mesh, Nisga’a); the award-winning Inland Tlingit Dakhká Khwáan Dancers; mask-dancing groups Git Hayetsk (Nisga’a, Tsimshian)and Git Hoan (Tsimshian); dancer and educator Laura Grizzlypaws (St’át’imc); Squamish-based Spakwus Slolem (Skwxwu7mesh), who share their canoe and cedar longhouse culture; a family group from many First Nations Xwelmexw Shxwexwo:s (Stó:lō, Musqueam, Sts:ailes, Snuneymuxw, Nuu-chah-nulth, Skwxwu7mesh); and Yisya̱’winux̱w (Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw), a group representing many of the 16 tribes of the Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw people on Northern Vancouver Island.
Also returning for their second Coast Dance Festival appearances are special guests: Saskatchewan’s award-winning Métis fiddler Adam Daigneault, who made his festival debut in 2022, and Māori artist Karena Koria, who first performed at the festival as a member of the Turanga Ararau Kapa Haka group from Gisborne, New Zealand, as part of the 2010 Cultural Olympiad. In 2024, Karena will perform as one half of the Turongo Collective, with his partner and wife, Milly Grant-Koria.
This year’s programming represents the spirit of Elder Harris’ legacy – the support and celebration of the ongoing artistic practice of the songs, dances, and stories from Indigenous communities across British Columbia, Canada, and the world.
