by Rebecca Bollwitt

Photo: gkamin Vancouver’s largest waterfight is happening this Saturday at 1:00pm over at Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park. As previously mentioned in my “Ways to Cool Down” blog post last month, it should prove to be an epic event during one of the hottest days of the summer. Who wants to have a waterfight this […]

The Great Blue Herons of Stanley Park Walk

Comments 1 by Rebecca Bollwitt

For the last five years I’ve been writing about Stanley Park (beyond the sea wall) and one of my trusted information sources has always been the Stanley Park Ecology Society. They’ve hosted fun events like the winter humbug hike, were a great resource when I did my coyote sighting map, run programs like Ivy Busters, […]

Stanley Park Pitch and Putt

Comments 3 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Being a golfer over the last dozen years or so I love the driving range and hitting up the big courses however there’s just something relaxing about heading out to the local pitch and putt. Your skill level doesn’t need to be up to par (nor does your wallet need to be stuffed) in order […]

Comments 9 by Rebecca Bollwitt

On Friday, Tourism Vancouver (@MyVancouver on Twitter) arranged a scenic flight for a select group of bloggers which saw us soar high above the region in a WestCoast Air float plane. Sean has a fine recap up already so I’ll simply post my photos and note that this was a really lovely experience, shared with […]

Coyote Sightings and Attacks in Vancouver

Comments 36 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Living so close to such a wonderland of natural beauty, towering trees, babbling brooks and amazing cliff-side outlooks we often forget that Stanley Park is in fact filled with wildlife and is by no means completely urban. Even though ducks, swans, raccoons, squirrels and skunks are the animals spotted most often, recently coyote sightings and […]

Millions of dollars have been poured into reshaping Stanley Park after windstorms in 2006 devastated the park, money has been spent on everything from solidifying the cliffs that hang above the seawall to making trails safe. However, $9 million later and the seawall closed today due to a mudslide.

World of the Weird at the Vancouver Aquarium

Comments 2 by Rebecca Bollwitt

I completely forgot about a special event this morning that my niece and nephews probably would have loved to attend, luckily – it was just a preview of what the Vancouver Aquarium has in store for this Halloween season so there will be many more chances to check it out. World of the Weird at […]
