End of a Season

Just watched the Ducks defeat the Canucks‘ playoff dreams in the second overtime of game 5. Alanah live blogged the entire ordeal (and also has an interview with Jim Hughson up on her site) while Dave did the live stream for Canucks Outsider. For all the post game commentary, or lack thereof, I’m sure J.J. and Alanah will have it all covered.

“…frankly, my frustration is NOT directed at Anaheim first. I’ll have to think about this for a few hours, but my frustration starts and ends with the Canucks. Unbelievable. A decent OT game, but where were they all game?” [Canucks and Beyond]

Canucks and Beyond

But… the hockey fun isn’t over just yet. We have our own Memorial Cup bound Giants to remember. Vancouver’s other hockey team is headed to the Western Hockey League finals for the second year in a row and game 1 is TOMORROW.

It was a great season, even though I’m sure the everyone is pretty down right now, including myself. It will definitely take a while to bounce back until someone plans a city-wide Canucks seasons appreciation party to ease the pain…

Don’t forget the Worlds going on in Russia. Shane Doan scored a hat trick in the last game. Take that, Canadian parliament! Can they go back to trying to solving world problems now?

I might take a bit of flack for saying this, but in a way I’m almost glad that they lost. They really haven’t played well all series (except for Luongo), and it would almost feel like cheating if they were to win and get to the next leg in this playoffs. I think Anahiem just outplayed them, and they deserved to advance. It’s a bit disappointing, since it’s so nice the way the Canucks can bring the city together, but there’s always next year I guess.
