Jodi Picoult in Vancouver
byThe Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival takes place in October however throughout the year they also organize a series of special events with internationally-acclaimed authors. Coming in March, they will be presenting bestselling author Jodi Picoult (My Sister’s Keeper, Handle with Care). Picoult will read from her new novel, Sing You Home, accompanied by guitarist Ellen Wilber.
“Popular author Picoult tackles the controversial topic of gay rights in her latest powerful tale…Told from the perspectives of all three major characters, Picoult’s gripping novel explores all sides of hot-button issue.” – Booklist
The reading will take place at St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church (Nelson at Burrard) at 7:30pm, Sunday March 13, 2011. Tickets are $21 general/$19 students and are available online or by calling (604) 629-8849.
In addition to the special event with Jodi Picoult, this spring the VIWF will present 2010 Man Booker Prize winner Howard Jacobson, bestselling author Simon Winchester and two of Canada’s most acclaimed writers, Elizabeth Hay and Miriam Toews. The VIWF has also recently launched Incite, a free regular reading series in partnership with Vancouver Public Library.

I have read The Time Travellers Wife four times now and could read it again! I love it and discover new things each time I read.

I work with Asperger students and her novel,House Rules, is bang on with her description of this syndrome. She always does her research before writing a novel. This is my favourite of her novels.
My favourite novel from Picoult would definitely have to be “Second Glance”. When the story came together, my mind was totally blown.
My favorite Jodi picoult book is….my sister’s keeper :). For those of you have not read it, it is way better than the movie…especially the ending!

Umm Anything written by JOdi Piccoult is a favorite! I have them all! My sisters keeper was the most difficult for me to read a Mother, Sister and Daughter and 19 minutes was the scariest!

I’ve read all of Jodi Picoult’s books. I love how she always tackles challenging topics that you don’t see other writers approaching. I couldn’t say which of her books is my favourite, but one of my favourite books I’ve read so far this year is The Magicians by Lev Grossman. Fantastic!
My Sister’s Keeper was definately my fave book by Jodi Picoult, and while I loved the movie, it can’t beat the book. I have lots of favourite books, including the Time Traveler’s Wife, the Memory Keeper’s Daughter, and The Giver.

This is such exciting news- I love Jodi Picoult! I could read My Sisters Keeper over and over again. It was the first Jodi book I read and I absolutely love it

Favourite book? Lord of the Rings! Favourite Picoult book (obviously, I have eclectic tastes!) – My Sister’s Keeper.
