GIVEAWAY ISU Short Track World Tour in Vancouver

by Rebecca Bollwitt

The ISU Short Track World Tour is a global series showcasing the explosive energy and fierce competition of short track speed skating, and it’s coming to Vancouver this weekend. Enter to win a four-pack of tickets.

Over two days of competition, the world’s fastest skaters race to be first across the finish line in their pursuit of the coveted Crystal Globe. Experience the adrenaline-fueled battles, tactical moves, and intense rivalries combined with a festive atmosphere in the stands with costumes welcome (like with Rugby7s), DJ music, and more.

ISU Short Track Vancouver

ISU Short Track World Tour

  • Date: Saturday, October 24 & Sunday 25, 2026
    • Doors open: 3:00pm; Racing from 4:00pm
  • Location: Pacific Coliseum (100 N Renfrew St, Vancouver)
  • Tickets: Available online now

This is the first time Short Track competition will be held at the Pacific Coliseum since Vancouver 2010! Fans can cheer on Canada’s Olympic medalists, including Courtney Sarault and Steven Dubois, as they take on the world’s best on home ice.

The ISU Short Track World Tour is the main international short track circuit, the only tour where the best skaters in the world all compete against each other throughout the season. 2026-2027 stops include Vancouver and Montreal (Canada), Seoul (South Korea), Shanghai and Beijing (China), Gdansk (Poland), and Tilburg (Netherlands).

How it Works

  • Each event includes 3 individual distances (500m, 1000m, 1500m) for both men and women, one team relay per gender (3000m for women, 5000m for men), and one 2000m mixed relay.
  • For every distance, skaters or teams race through several elimination rounds (heats, then quarterfinals, semifinals) before the fastest reach the final, where medals are awarded.
  • Each event runs over 3 days: qualification rounds on Friday, finals on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Every distance awards ranking points. Those points add up over the whole season toward the Crystal Globe, separate titles for the top man, top woman, and top team of the year.
    • Canada currently holds all three titles: William Dandjinou (men), Courtney Sarault (women), and Canadian Ice Maples (team title).

Short Track reaches speeds of up to 50 km/h, with skaters racing shoulder to shoulder on the ice. With race after race across the session, there’s very little downtime. Expect overtakes, contact and races that can change in seconds.
