Vancouver Clothing Swap Thrifting Event

by Rebecca Bollwitt

The youth-led nonprofit Threading Change and the City of Vancouver are hosting an afternoon of clothing swapping, conversation, and connection this Saturday.

Vancouver Clothing Swap

Vancouver Clothing Swap Thrifting Event

  • Dates: Saturday, February 7 from 10:00am to 1:00pm
  • Location: Gym D at the Britannia Community Center (1661 Napier, Vancouver)
  • Admission: Register online in advance for free & fill out the Clothing Audit survey ahead of time

How it Works

At a clothing swap, usually you’re not trading items directly with another person one-to-one. Instead, everyone brings a few pieces and all of the items are collected and displayed together. You then get to “shop” from the full selection so you’re picking from everything the group brings, not just swapping with a single person. It’s more like a free thrift-store experience than a direct exchange, and it gives everyone more options and flexibility.

Do bring: 1-10 pieces of well loved clothing to swap and give new life to pre-loved pieces all while helping keep textiles out of landfills.

Don’t bring: Socks or underwear for the swap. Jewelry can be swapped if it has been cleaned. Swimsuits and bras can be swapped if they have never been worn, ideally with the tag still attached.

Join family members, friends, neighbours, and the community to make sustainable fashion a shared experience at the Vancouver Clothing Swap.
