Venues Invited to Join The Last Call Project

by Rebecca Bollwitt

Do you work with a local venue, event, or nightlife partner? You are invited to join The Last Call Project, a free, voluntary credentialing program supporting hospitality venues in building safer, more accountable nightlife spaces.

Last Call Audit Vancouver

Join The Last Call Project

Join a growing network of spaces prioritizing dignity, respect, and safety. At a time when there is increased focus on safety in our city, Good Night Out Vancouver (GNOV), the City of Vancouver, and local businesses are collaborating to create safer spaces in which we can work and socialize.

Visible safety initiatives matter: 82% of respondents in GNOV’s annual safety survey said they would more likely recommend or spend more at venues with visible safety measures.

The Last Call Audit and accompanying workbook helps these spaces assess, improve, and visibly commit to practices that support safer environments for both patrons and staff. By completing a self-administered audit and working through resources, participating venues can earn Last Call Credentials that signal to the public they’ve taken meaningful steps toward sexual violence prevention, stronger policies, and accountability.

Businesses can apply to receive the audit tool and handbook, which they can complete using provided templates, print resources, and support from the program team. The Last Call team then reviews the submission and, if needed, follows up with feedback and resources. Once credentials are granted, venues are listed publicly and receive collateral to display their commitment.

All applicants receive access to free training, policy templates, signage and more to help them pass the Audit. Businesses that go “Above and Beyond” will be eligible to receive recognition at a Safer Spaces in Hospitality event next spring.

4 Reasons to Join

  1. Demonstrate Leadership & Accountability: Show that your business takes prevention seriously and is committed to fostering a safer, environment.
  2. Foster Trust: Customers want to support businesses that prioritize safety and well-being. Credentialing signals your business as a leader in responsible hospitality.
  3. Improve Staff Retention & Workplace Culture: A safer workplace leads to higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, and stronger team cohesion.
  4. Meet & Exceed Industry Standards: Implement practices that align with legal and regulatory expectations around workplace safety & sexual violence prevention.

If you’re a customer, look for the Last Call decal on the door. It’s a sign the venue is committed to your safety!

This project is funded by the City of Vancouver and executed by Good Night Out Vancouver. Good Night Out is a BC based non profit society committed to building community capacity to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and sexual assault in all sectors, with a focus on hospitality, music, arts and nightlife. We do this through education, outreach and advocacy.
