Space Lab Free Audio Workshop Series

  • Dates: Sundays April 26; May 3; and May 10, 2026
  • Location: Space Lab (638 East Hastings St, Vancouver)
  • Admission: Register online
  • Introduction to Audio for Women will cover the basics of audio components.  What each component does, how they connect, etc.  Turntables, Amplifiers,  Speakers, and allow exploring the different components and space to ask questions. Ideally, laying a foundation to engage in the hobby.

“These workshops are meant to inform and help fill in existing gaps that exist within the industry,” says Clint Moroz, owner of Space Lab. “I’ve witnessed firsthand how women and other newcomers who are enthusiastic about learning are being denied the chance to explore their interest in the field. They’re confronted with people gatekeeping the information, facing misogyny and prejudice. This series of workshops will hopefully encourage more people to explore the world of Hi-Fi audio equipment, and allow them to realize that it can be something that enriches how they experience music and entertainment.”

The initial workshops will be hosted personally by Moroz, who has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, having started as an avid collector himself. He’s helped equip some of the city’s top listening bars, such as Bar Gobo and the upcoming listening lounge Amber. Participants will receive a general overview of a stereo system and how it is set up, as well as learn about the various components and their functionalities. The series is launching at a time when physical media has seen a recent resurgence amongst younger generations, who increasingly favour analog technology in response to a market dominated by streaming services.
