The Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade, presented by Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar, is coming up on April 18th. It’s one of the largest celebrations of its kind in the world and organizers expect the 2026 parade will draw in excess of 600,000 guests who will gather along the route. All are welcome.

Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade

The parade commemorates the founding of the Khalsa in 1699 by Guru Gobind Singh Ji (10th Sikh Guru) and a commitment to sovereignty, human rights, equality, and fairness.

  • Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026
  • Location: The Parade begins at 9:00am at the Gurdwara Sahib Darbar (12885 85th Avenue, Surrey) and travels along 124th Street, turns left onto 75th Avenue, continues on 76th Avenue onto 128th Street then returns to the Temple at approximately 5:00pm.

Hundreds of booths along the route, sponsored by local businesses and families give away free food and treats to guests. The parade itself features a colourful and entertaining procession of over 2,500 participants representing 20 community organizations.

Vendors will offer free food, and you can enjoy music and festivities all along the parade route. Due to heavy traffic organizers encourage attendees to walk to the festival area. There is no parking in the area of the event.

Traffic Disruptions

Traffic controls will be in place beginning at 7:30am until approximately 5:00pm, or until the RCMP deem the route is safe to be opened to vehicular traffic.  Access to 128th Street and road sections along the parade route will be impacted most significantly.  Increased delays may be expected for travel through and within the area between 72nd Avenue to 88th Avenue, and Scott Road to King George Highway.

Transit and Parking

Take transit, walk, or roll as there’s limited parking. The 323 128th Street bus takes you to and from 128 Street and 88 Ave, which is near the parade start point, Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar. There will also be a shuttle service from key points in surrounding areas.

Parade Route

The Surrey Khalsa Day (Vaisakhi) Parade is an annual celebration of one of the most significant days in the Sikh calendar, the creation of the Khalsa in 1699. The event welcomes people of all cultures and communities who come together in this communal gathering of understanding, sharing, and goodwill.
