BC Family Day is coming up and there’s a fun and diverse lineup of events happening around Metro Vancouver. Spend time together swimming or dancing, exploring a museum, or taking part in a creative workshop during the Family Day Long Weekend.

Friday, February 13th is a Pro-D Day for many districts and Family Day is Monday, February 16th. Look for an activity by region below ↓

Burnaby

There will be events across the city at recreation centres and local attractions. Burnaby Village Museum will be open from 10:00am to 3:45pm on February 16th. Join us for a guided tour of several key exhibits and gardens. Museum Interpreters will be on hand to tell stories relating to Burnaby’s food culture and explore delecTABLE: Burnaby Food Journeys in the Stride Studios. Admission is free but registration is required.

Coquitlam

Join an art-filled afternoon with fun activities for all ages led by talented artists at Place des Arts on February 8th. At this free event, explore current exhibitions, experiment with art mediums and discover the performing arts. Take home any creations made during the event. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Families looking to skate or swim have a range of options at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way) and Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.).

The final day of Lights at Lafarge is Family Day on February 16th as well.

Stop by the Mackin House Museum on Family Day Monday and create your own photo album. Senior-in-Residence, Merril Hall, will be leading visitors through creating their own photo collage album that they can look back on for years to come. All supplies provided. Guests are encouraged to bring their own photos. RSVP appreciated by not required.

Langley

Langley City’s free, drop-in Family Day event is back with activities designed for families with children under 10. Visit on Monday, February 16th from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Timms Community Centre. Jump into fun with inflatable castles, tackle obstacle courses, and interactive play zones. Create together at arts and crafts stations, enjoy safe sports and building activities, and enter giveaways and draws throughout the day.

From February 14-16, Willowbrook will be the Family Day Sweet Spot with family caricature portraits, candy-theme photo ops, prize giveaways and more.  

BC Family Day at the Fort is February 16th. Enjoy live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and storytelling centred on food and family. Young explorers can join a kid-friendly scavenger hunt, with a prize for a mission well accomplished. Warm up with cranberry Bannock cooked over an open fire, discover what historic mealtimes were like, and take part in guided plant walks highlighting Indigenous food and medicinal plants.

New Westminster

There is a Family Day Valentine’s Dance Party on Saturday, February 14 at təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre for $2 per person. Enjoy family-friendly tunes, interactive dance games, crafts and fun for all ages. Get creative, dance it out, and make joyful memories with special guest Rachel from Rock’N Beau Parties.

Join the Fraser River Discovery Centre to explore the many ways species care for one another along the Fraser River, from humans helping salmon to trees supporting surrounding plants and wildlife. Through hands-on and self-guided activities, discover how birds travel and protect each other in flocks, explore family bonds in the animal kingdom, and write love letters to your favorite beings—whether a human, an animal, or a plant. February 14-15 (paid admission), and February 16 (free admission, book online).

North Vancouver

North Vancouver Recreation & Culture has a fun-filled lineup of affordable activities for families, friends and loved ones from Saturday, February 14 to Monday, February 16.

To kick off the weekend, MONOVA is hosting a kids night at the museum on February 12th.

Richmond

Enjoy Family Day Weekend at the Tram in Steveston from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily February 13-16 with free admission. Explore the historic Tram Car 1220, dress-up as a Junior Conductor and take a family photo, and enjoy fun interactive displays. Ask about our Junior Conductor ticket and how to collect souvenir buttons.

While you’re in Steveston, stop by Family Day Weekend at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, February 14-16. Drop in to the Chinese Bunkhouse from 11:00am to 4:00pm and join free family-friendly activities themed around the Lunar New Year, which falls on February 17th this year. Make your own Lunar New Year decoration, learn about the animal zodiac, and join a search and find game around the historic site, suitable for all ages. Admission is free.

Gateway Theatre presents Where Have All the Buffalo Gone? by Tai Amy Grauman, which features lively fiddle music, a life-like buffalo puppet, and Métis storytelling, making it a heartwarming, educational show. Running in Studio B from February 16 – 21, 2026, this production is perfect for ages 9 and up. Celebrating Family Day on February 16th, they will have one performance at 10:00am. Tickets are available now.

Surrey

The Museum of Surrey will host free activities on Saturday, February 14th. Enjoy a mix of games, creative activities, and special experiences across the heritage campus.

Family Day in Vancouver

Team Canada Fan Fest will be at Jack Poole Plaza in Downtown Vancouver on February 15th and 16th with Team Canada athlete appearances, winter sport participation and demonstrations as well as a roster of exciting Team Canada partner activations.

The Robson Square ice rink will be open for free skating throughout Family Day weekend, and they have a variety of performances including Antonio Larosa on February 14th and Teresa Marie & The Three on February 15th.

Music on Main’s Big Bang Festival is Sunday, February 15th at the Roundhouse. This is an adventurous and interactive music festival for young audiences. Free entry to the festival, and $5 for some special events while you’re there. Food trucks will also be on site.

Visit the Chinatown Storytelling Centre as they combine the Taste of Chinatown! celebration with Family Day on Monday. Create your own beautiful fai cheun using a fish for abundance or a heart for care, and add a traditional blessing or write your own to carry your wishes into the new year. Fai Cheun (or fai chun) are handwritten calligraphy blessings displayed at Lunar New Year to invite abundance and harmony. Each poetic phrase is written with intention, using ink and brush. Drop-in 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

Enjoy a self-guided walk through the seaside forest on Monday, February 16th then warm up with songs and tales around the campfire with Metro Vancouver. They have events at Pacific Spirit Park and təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park. Register online for free.

Kids Take Over UBC on February 15th. More than 20 UBC departments, faculties, campus attractions, and student organizations will entertain, inspire and educate at this amazing open-door arts and culture festival. Families can enjoy UBC’s world-class assets and public spaces together, while interacting with artists, musicians, dancers and more.

The Vancouver Aquarium has a deal on from February 7-17, 2026. Child admission is free, with the purchase of an adult ticket. Members (Gold/Platinum tiers only) can bring a friend for free.

Carousel Theatre presents the Family Forward Festival February 14-16 on Granville Island. It’s a celebration of family in all its forms and definitions. Enjoy a weekend filled with storytelling, drag performances, dance, and music. Tickets are available now.

Vancouver Civic Theatres hosts Family Day Weekend: Be Our Funny Valentine on February 14th at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. In Partnership with Vancouver Public Library, Just for Laughs VANCOUVER and The Writers’ Exchange. Join from 9:00am to 12:00pm for a morning of family-friendly laughs at this FREE event during Family Day weekend. They’re celebrating the joy of laughter with activities for comedy fans of all ages.

It’s Make & Play: Family Day at the Museum of Vancouver on Monday, February 16th. Drop in throughout the day to explore hands-on activity booths led by local Vancouver artists and crafters. Each booth offers a free, all-ages creative activity, with the opportunity to browse and purchase handmade goods directly from the artists. Activity booths are free to access in the lobby but regular Museum admission applies if you’d like to visit the galleries. 

Also in Vanier Park, you can explore stories of the sea, hands-on discovery, and time together at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. From interactive exhibits to engaging activities throughout the galleries, it’s a full day designed for visitors of all ages to learn, play, and explore side by side. Crack On and Triple O’s food trucks will be serving up comfort food throughout the day in the parking lot. Book your admission tickets online in advance.

Enjoy a full day of free family fun at the Coal Harbour Community Centre in Vancouver with games, crafts, bouncy castle, and baby playtime on Monday, February 16th. No registration is required.
