Grab some popcorn, a blanket, and your friends for free outdoor movies returning to the heart of Downtown Vancouver on Thursdays in July and August.
Free Outdoor Movies in Downtown Vancouver
- When: Every Thursday from July 3 to August 14, 2025
- Event begins at 5:00pm each night followed by film screenings at sundown (around 9:00pm)
- Where: šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza)
- Admission: Free! Feel free to bring your own chair or blanket to sit on.
Each night activities kick off at 5:00pm featuring live music, performances, games, food trucks, and more all followed by the movie screenings at sundown (around 9:00pm) on a massive 33-foot inflatable screen. Enjoy pre-screening interactive trivia led by IQ 2000 Trivia, music by DJ Chip$, MC by Ola Dada, all-ages face painting, and a free photo booth from Moonlit Memories.
Gary’s Kettle Corn, Oddity Kombucha, and Chickpeas Food Truck will be onsite offering snacks and beverages for purchase.
Costume contests are back, with prizes up for grabs, and if you attend 4 out of 7 movie nights, you’ll be entered to win a one-night stay for two at Hyatt Regency Vancouver including breakfast at Mosaic Grille. Pick up a stamp card at the Summer Movie Nights info tent.
Building on the success of last year’s mid-film performances during the opening night of Barbie, there are several surprises this year that deliver a unique and immersive viewing experience.

- Get ready to sing your heart out! Costumes, vocals, and full-on Broadway energy is highly encouraged for this screening of Wicked!
