BC Family Day is here and there’s a really fun lineup of events happening around Metro Vancouver. Spend time together swimming or dancing, exploring a museum, or taking part in a creative workshop on or around Family Day Monday, February 17, 2025.

BC Family Day Events in Vancouver

Burnaby

There will be events across the city at recreation centres and local attractions. Enjoy the day with Family at a Toonie Skate, badminton, pickleball, a day at the museum. Burnaby Village Museum will be open from 11:00am to 4:00pm with free admission.

Coquitlam

Attend an art-filled Family Day at Place des Arts a bit early on February 9th. Families looking to skate or swim have a range of options at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way) and Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.). The final day of Lights at Lafarge is Family Day on February 17th as well.

Black History Month Family Day at Mackin House on February 15th will feature music, performances, food, vendors to browse through, organizations to connect with, and activities for kids that celebrate the history and culture of the Black Diaspora.

Langley

Fort Langley National Historic Site will have a day of fun, exploration, and learning to celebrate British Columbia’s incredible biodiversity on February 17th. Fort Langley Train Station will also have an open house on Family Day.

New Westminster

Family day events across the city are available for registration online. Join a family Zumba class, learn to skate, enjoy Indigenous hoop dancing, and more. Investigate the biodiversity hiding under the surface of the living, working Fraser River with free admission on February 17th to the Fraser River Discovery Centre.

North Vancouver

Join the Shipyards Brewery District Family Day Crawl on February 17th or an online Coast Salish Cedar Weaving workshop with MONOVA.

Richmond

Celebrate Family Day weekend with a visit to Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site in Steveston Village, and stop by the Teddy Bear Repair Cafe at the Richmond Museum on February 17th. Visit the Gulf of Georgia Cannery on Monday, February 17th to celebrate the wide range of families, animal and human, that depend on the fish that was canned here. In connection with BC Heritage Week 2025’s theme “Pastimes in Past Times”, learn about traditional ways, past and present, that salmon and herring have been prepared by families.

Surrey

Choose from skating, recreation centre sports or arts events, community centre celebrations and much more from the City of Surrey’s Family Day events list. This includes free admission at the Museum of Surrey (February 15th), activities at the historic Stewart Farm (February 15th), and more.

Family Day in Vancouver

Join Family Services of Greater Vancouver as they celebrate Family Day with Vancouver Public Library. Stop by the promenade at Central Branch early on Wednesday, February 12th.

Kick off Heritage Week on Family Day with activities at the Chinese Canadian Museum o February 17th. Spend the day exploring the heritage of the historic Wing Sang building (est. 1889) and partake in activities throughout the galleries.

Book a visit to the Vancouver Aquarium between February 7-17 and get free child admission (ages 3-12) with the purchase of regular admission.

The Robson Square ice rink will be open for free skating on Family Day, and they have a variety of theme nights this month: February 5th is Country Night; February 12th is Y2K Night; February 19th is Neon Night; and February 26th is Jersey Night.

Vancouver Civic Theatres Family Day is Saturday, February 15th, enjoy a morning of family-friendly laughs with activities for comedy fans of all ages.

Music on Main’s Big Bang Festival is February 16th at the Roundhouse. This is an adventurous and interactive music festival for young audiences.

On Monday, enjoy a self-guided walk through the seaside forest then warm up with songs and tales around the campfire with Metro Vancouver. Visit the Museum of Vancouver for How Raven Stole the Sun, and check out the Maritime Museum as part of Family Day in Vanier Park.

Take inspiration from current exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery and discover ways to learn, dream, and connect through art on Monday, February 17th. Admission and activities are all free for children and youth aged 18 and under. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Free for Gallery Members or with admission.

Enjoy a full day of free family fun at the Coal Harbour Community Centre in Vancouver with games, crafts, bouncy castle, and baby playtime.
