Over the last two years, iconic Canadian Rock performers have united to stage a benefit concert in the ongoing battle to beat cancer. As the brainchild of legendary drummer Rocket Norton of PRISM who sadly passed away from the disease this past April, these sold-out shows have electrified Vancouver and raised $660,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation.
Iconic Vancouver and Western Canadian artists will join in solidarity to perform their classic hits including Loverboy, Chilliwack, Powder Blues Band, Lee Aaron, Barney Bentall, Trooper’s Hot Shots, Streetheart, and Seeds of Time.
As with previous years, these musicians and friends have generously donated their time and talents for an undertaking that has touched each and every one of their lives, not to mention yours. The evening will also include a live auction of unique music memorabilia as well as a video tribute to the late, great Rocket Norton.
About the Cause
Proceeds from ROCK BEATS CANCER go to the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF), specifically, the Personalised Onco-Genomics (POG) Program – a world-leading research initiative that uses intensive genomic data collection and analysis to identify and understand the genomic alterations that drive cancer growth, metastasis, and the biological evolution and response to therapies. Donations to BCCF in memory of Rocket Norton can also be made online.
All donations to this program are matched dollar for dollar by the Federal Government of Canada, doubling the impact of all ticket and auction revenue. More information is available on the BC Cancer Foundation website.
