Coquitlam Long Weekend Activities
byThe Long Weekend in Coquitlam kicks off with the return of a beloved local festival. ScotFestBC is back (this Friday and Saturday) so grab your kilt and join in the fun at Coquitlam’s Lafarge Lake! This is the BC Highland Games’ first live, in-person event since 2019, and it’s going to be worth the wait. There will be piping, dancing and drumming, not to mention a haggis hunt, kids’ activities and a whisky school for the 19+ crowd.
Take part in cultural workshops, kick back in the beer garden or stroll through the many food and merchandise vendors while listening to live Celtic music. At the Heavy Events, watch as competitors throw stones and hammers in events that take inspiration from every day life.
And if that’s not enough to set you racing for the door, here are 10 more activities to fill your last long weekend of summer.

For easy, scenic rides, Mundy Park is home to 16 km of trails meandering around the lush, forested park with two picturesque lakes. Other flat options for all abilities include the Coquitlam River Trail network, DeBoville Slough and Colony Farm Regional Park.
For mountain biking, two of the best spots to try in Coquitlam include Burke Mountain and Eagle Mountain. You’ll navigate through mazes of towering trees, roots, rocks, single-track and built features. Find out more on the VIsit Coquitlam Biking page, and for supplies, check out local bike shop Kinetik Cycles.

It’s on display at Evergreen Cultural Centre from September 2 to November 7, 2021.
See the New Exhibits at Place des Arts
Three new exhibits will be opening September 3 at Place des Arts, and running until Nov. 4.
