BC Youth Week is coming up May 1-7, 2019 with dozens of events hosted across the province, created by youth for youth. In Coquitlam, there are 12 FREE events:

The Ultimate Cooking Challenge
When: 3:15pm to 4:45pm
Where: Maillard Middle School Kitchen, 1300 Rochester Ave
Details: For ages 10 – 15 years. Bring your skills & creativity to the kitchen and create some impressive dishes with our secret ingredients. Four teams will compete to impress the professional chef judge and take home the prize. Call (604) 933-6166.

Youth Week Kick Off BBQ
When: 3:30pm to 6:30pm
Where: 1260 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam
Details: Free Drop In! Enjoy some barbecue and music while trying out jumbo games for a chance to win prizes. Don’t forget to snap a selfie with our photo booth. For more information, contact: [email protected]

Vancity Financial Literacy Workshop
When: 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Where: Place Maillardville Community Centre (1200 Cartier Avenue)
Details: For ages 10-15 years. No registration required. Join a financial literacy workshop on the basics of banking hosted by Vancity. Vancity believes being good with money includes educating today’s youth to become more financially savvy, achieve self-sufficiency, and make sound decisions.

Art Night- Youth Centre Mural Project
When: 3:45pm to 7:45pm
Where: 1260 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam
Details: Grab a paintbrush and help create a masterpiece to be displayed at The Landing Youth Centre. Graffiti and other art mediums will be led by an instructor. For more information, contact [email protected]

Capture the Flag Tournament
When: 3:15pm to 4:30pm
Where: 1300 Rochester Avenue (Maillard Middle School Outer Field)
Details: Simply sign in the day of the event. Bring your friends and running shoes, we’ll bring the lemonade and the fun. Winning team will receive pizza.

The Release Party- Youth Hip Hop Night
When: 7:15pm to 9:30pm
Where: 1260 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam

Cafe Karaoke
When: 5:00pm to 9:00pm
Where: 630 Poirier St., Coquitlam

Paint Party

Langara Recreation Leadership Presentation + Recreation Jobs in Coquitlam
When: 5:30pm to 6:30pm and 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Where: 630 Poirier St. Coquitlam
Details: Meet recreation professionals and hear about how this post-secondary experience can help you make a career out of what you love. What recreation-based jobs are offered in Coquitlam, and what steps are needed to pursue these careers? Stick around the youth centre after the presentation and talk with City of Coquitlam staff members from Aquatics, the Arenas and Recreation Programs. Food and drinks will be provided.
