Celebrate Capilano University’s 50th Anniversary at CapFest
byIn 1968, Boeing introduced the first 747 “jumbo jet,” Star Trek aired North American television’s first interracial kiss and Capilano University, then a college, opened its doors.
To mark its 50th anniversary, Capilano University invites the public to help celebrate this momentous occasion with CapFest, a massive campus-wide party on Saturday, September 22, 2018. There will be five stages, live acts, food trucks, a family-friendly beer garden and activities for children.

When: Saturday, September 22, 2018 2:00pm to 9:00pm
Where: Capilano University’s North Vancouver campus (2055 Purcell Way)
Admission: FREE! Plus, the first 500 to arrive by public transit or bicycle will receive a free gift. If you must drive, parking is free, but limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
You can tour studios in the Bosa Centre for Film and Animation, check out the nine murals that are coming to fruition with the help of the Vancouver Mural Festival and take in storytelling, dance performances and a DJ set at an Indigenous Festival. There will be an escape room, an alumni homecoming tent and an Experience Fair, where you can play with puppies, participate in a virtual reality storytelling experience and get your face on the cover of a magazine.
Visitors can chill out to jazz in the forest, refuel with award-winning fare from more than a dozen food trucks, including Vij’s Railway Express and Mr. Bannock, and take in high-energy main stage acts that include Five Alarm Funk, with the headlining act to be announced on September 10th.

CapU opened with 784 students and operated after hours at West Vancouver secondary school. Now the University offers more than 100 programs and has seen alumni win Juno Awards and work on an Oscar-winning animation team.
