Green Glasses Giveaway: Vinylize and Cinematique

Green Glasses in Yaletown makes Canadian-designed, handcrafted glasses using all natural organic, sustainable materials. Back in September I did a giveaway, when I was first introduced to Green Glasses, and I learned that they are non-toxic, phthalate-free, renewable and 100 percent biodegradable. Better yet when you purchase a pair, partial proceeds are donated to the David Suzuki Foundation.

The two latest styles in the Green Glasses lineup are pretty spectacular as Vinylize and Cinematique, developed by Tipton Eyeworks, each feature very unique materials — recycled records and film.

Vinylize: Handmade in Hungary by Tipton Eyeworks. Zachary Tipton discovered his father’s old record collection and had the idea to recycle the abundant material to serve a new purpose. The first series was developed from communist vinyl, salvaged from the Budapest flea markets. The durable pressings could still be played, even after half a century, but to insulate them from the effects of heat, they were fused with biodegradable cellulose-acetate using proprietary technology. Cinematique: Picture-perfect release, each handcrafted frame is distinct as they’re designed with recycled film. Classic styling, timeless appeal and perfect for round or oval faces. Available in tortoise or black and each is one of a kind as the recycled film in the arms will be different from picture shown. Watch the process from film to eyewear in this YouTube video.
