Vancouver Wellness Show 2013
byThe 21st annual Vancouver Wellness Show is bringing workshops, demos, healthy activities and products together under one roof at the Vancouver Convention Centre East from Friday, February 15th to Sunday, February 17th.
Stop by the Kids Activity Zone or Pet Wellness exhibits, attend Tea Talk and Tastings, and sit in on the Dairy Farmers Cheese seminars. The Celebrity Cooking Stage will feature celebrity chefs, restauranteurs and food writers while the Seminar Stages hosts medical professionals, therapists, and nutritionists. Get moving with fitness, yoga, and dance on the Demonstration Stage, and attend many more workshops.
Show hours are 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, 10:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Tickets are $16* (general admission), $14* (seniors), $6* (children 6-15), children 5 and under are free. You can also purchase a 3-day pass for $30* or a family pack (2 adults and 2 kids) for $35*.

Take stretch breaks at work to break up your work day and get some physical activity.
Drink more water
Hot water (especially with lemon) makes a good, caffeine-free warm up on a cold day. Starting your day with a cup is said to aid digestion, as well.
Lots of water throughout the day and most importantly, sleeping well at night
Taking 5 deep breaths at least 3 times a day can help relieve stress.
Eat a balanced breakfast every day
Take a walk, it’s not only good for your body but it can be great to relieve stress and boost creativity!
Start every day by drinking a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Take a deep breath when times are tough & make sure to take some me-time.
Get more sleep!
a few drops of Oil of Oregano under the tongue will chase away colds!
If you sit at a desk most of your work day, put up a sticky note to yourself with a reminder to get up and walk or stretch. Set regular walk/stretch breaks.
Drink room temperature water. Ice cold water shocks your system, which is at 37C, even though it goes down great in your mouth.
Greek yogurt for breakfast
remove the salt shaker from your dining table, and also put it to the back of your spice cabinet.
a hot cup of green tea to start the day!
eat 1 fish fillet per day to increase your omega 3 intake as well as two fruit and vegetable smoothies with 1 tbsp ground flaxseed in each. Cut out bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, and other high starch foods out of your diet. As well you can eat 1-2 eggs per day as this will increase your good cholesterol. Buy no sugar added juices and replace pop with carbonated lemon or lime water. Eat at least 1 salad per day and your morning breakfast cereal should have low sugar and high vitamins such as multigrain cheerios or all bran.
Enjoy music to centre yourself, rejuvenate, and calm your soul.

Take regular breaks away from your computer, both for the sake of your back and your eyes.
Despite the busyness of work and life, find small moments every day to laugh and smile.
Take time to slow yourself down if possible and get to bed at a decent time. A good nights sleep does wonders for mood, being alert, and overall health.

Remember to breathe–take a moment to stop and take some deep breaths–it helps refocus you.

Drink a smoothie every morning:
1 1/2 cups frozen berries
1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup low-cal pomegranate juice
3/4 cup low-fat yogurt
1 TBLSP honey to sweeten

Make sure you get enough sleep every night. Don’t drink caffeinated drinks after 6pm.
Take time just for your self – even 15 min – every day!

Take a probiotic or consume fermented foods for gut health. (Hopalong15)
If you feel sick, rest for a day (or two!) and let yourself get better! Don’t push through it risking infecting others and prolonging your own illness! Take care of yourself 🙂
Practice yoga often!
Detox on a regular basis not once a year.
Breathe.
Be sure to hug someone every day ~ a hug can release endorphins that can make a person ‘feel good’. It can lower the heart rate and blood pressure, plus reduce the production of cortisol and thereby improve one’s immunity against disease.
set aside some time to do some meditation.
Try to drink more water and go for a walk daily to de-stress your mind and body.

See a Registered Massage Therapist 1-2x/ month
Make sure to get enough vit. D, especially during the winter months. This can either come from being outside more, from your diet, or supplementation. This is important for bone health, calcium absorption, immune system function, etc.
Drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in warm water in the mornings. It’s good for your digestion, hair and skin.
Also, a quick blast of cold water at the end of your shower makes your hair nice and shiny 🙂
I always hop off the bus a stop early, that way I get a little bit of extra exercise every day.

Got the munchies? Substitute that sweet treat with fresh fruit, veggie sticks, whole grain toast with nut butter (Nutella doesn’t count lol) or a handful of nuts.

Exercise is a good thing to do. I have been going to dance class 3 times a week. I love it!!!!
WATER WATER WATER everything else is bonus for your body!
Do at least 15-20 mins of exercise per day. It can be a brisk walk or mini jog. Keep your heart going strong!

Make sure to take mini breaks at work, take a walk around the block, go say hi to a collegue..
