KidSport & Triple O’s Re-Tweet Day of Support
Triple O’s, makers of some of BC’s best burgers on the go, is supporting KidSport BC once again this month through an in-store and online campaign.
Following a successful partnership in 2011 that raised $20,000 for KidSport BC, Triple O’s will launch a two week promotion for the same cause from June 25, 2012 to July 8, 2012.
The public will be able to contribute to their local KidSport chapter when ordering off the Triple O’s menu in any of the 29 participating locations. Funds raised during the two-week period will help kids with financial barriers experience the benefits of sport participation by covering the registration fees for a sport season of their choice.
Why KidSport? It provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. Sport got me through some tough years as a child and as a teenager and I believe every child should be able to have the opportunity to play sports — and not let the cost of equipment or fees stand in their way.
In addition to donating in-store, guests can help raise money for KidSport by re-tweeting the Triple O’s Twitter account with the tag #donate4kids. All re-tweets received TODAY will equal a $1 donation to KidSport (up to $5,000).

Track meets when I was in Grade 5/6…so much fun!
I don’t know if I could pick an absolute fondest sports memory (there are SO many) but here’s my favourite recent one. This year my youngest sister “graduated” from youth soccer. With three of us, this means my dad was around for 19 kid-seasons (it’s totally a legit quantity, like man-hours) of girls’ soccer and he loved every cold, wet, miserable minute of it. Watching him tear up as he presented his girls with their medals at the Port Moody Soccer Club awards night was really touching!
not particularly a team sports moment, but i remember the first time i rode my bike. dad was so proud! 😀

My fondest memory in sports has to be my second year of minor hockey when I scored my very first goal in a game. I was sooooooo happy that day. Might have been up there with one of my fondest moments ever.
My fondest sports memory was all of the provincial tournaments I went to in high school soccer. Team sports are so great.

I did not play a lot of sports as a child, so I would have to say my favorite sports memories are:
The first goal my son scored in his first year of minor hockey is definitely tied with when my daughter’s cheer squad finally won first place at their yearly competition.
My fondest sports memory was going to my very first Canuck game the first year they came in the league …. even though I was sitting in the very last row of the Coliseum!

It would definitely have to be when we won the Hockey Gold in 2010! The entire city erupted simultaneously. An absolute once in a lifetime experience.

Despite being the underdogs to a loaded team all season long, we managed to pull off a late rally and win the league title when I played fastpitch back in grade 6. It was nice to hoist that trophy when no one gave us a chance.
Volunteering at Canada Hockey Place standing behind the net watching the “Golden Goal” shoot into the net. One of the best memories of my life. I’ve never seen so many grown men shed tears of joy 😀

Watching my children play soccer over the years has lead to many favorites. One year the soccer final game was played in the driving rain and the field turned to mud. The ball no longer bounced and just went “splat” as it landed. The girls tried to kick the ball and it flung the mud everywhere. It makes me laugh when I think about that game.

Teaching with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Spots on grouse mountain: I was instructing a very very cautious 13 year old girl with a cognitive disability. When I suggested I time her with my iPod, she became so fiercely competitive that she forgot all her hesitations about going fast and cut her time in half on the next run. Explosive smiles all around.
