Macaron Day Vancouver 2012
byMacaron Day in Vancouver will see two confectionaries offer up sugary sweets in support local causes. Macaron Day was founded in France (le jour du macaron) by Pierre Hermé years ago. It’s a day to celebrate the colours of spring with a bright palette of treats.
French Made Baking
When: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 8:00am to 6:30pm
Where: 81 Kingsway, Vancouver
What: Stop by for a FREE macaron all day. There will be a donation box to support BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and you can check out other goodies from French Made.

Thierry Chocolaterie Pâtisserie Café
When: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 7:00am to midnight
Where: 1059 Alberni, Vancouver
What: 10 percent of sales throughout the day will be donated to Growing Chefs, Chefs for Children’s Urban Agriculture.

This is an international event with Macaron Days happening overseas, in New York, and in Toronto. French Made Baking also teamed up with Pâtisseries et Gourmandises d’Olivier in Quebec to promote the event nationally.
Macarons (not to be confused with macaroons) are meringue-based confections commonly filled with buttercream or jam. The selection at Thierry includes vanilla, coconut, lychee, coffee, pink praline, chocolate caramel, lime, passion fruit, lemon, and more.
