Comments 4 by Rebecca Bollwitt

The Village on False Creek is presenting the free “Village Carnivale” this week with community artists, performers, activities, food vendors, face-painting, and a 65-foot ferris wheel.

Athlete's Village

The Carnivale runs Thursday June 16 & Friday June 17 (4:00pm to 9:00) and Saturday June 18 & Sunday June 19 (11:00am to 7:00pm). The festival is free for all ages and ferris wheel rides are $4 per person (case only) – free for children under 6 (accompanied by an adult). Village Carnivale is in partnership with Public Dreams (LunarFest, Illuminares, Secret Souls Walk).

The Village at False Creek is located in South East False Creek between Columbia and Ontario, from Athletes Way to the water (the Olympic Athletes Village site). Village Carnivale is one of several community events happening in the space this summer.

SADDEST carnival i’ve ever been to, if you can even call it a carnival.
1 tent with 1 table for face paint should not qualify as art.
2 food tiny food venders should not qualify as food at a ‘carnival’.
1 small ferris wheel does NOT make a vender.

when i went with a group of friends, we were sorely dissapointed. it was so empty that they even stopped the wheel from turning. not worth even $2 to ride it.

I totally agree with the above. it was ridiculous.

I went there with a group of friends because we thought it would be so fun. we saw an old tiny ferris wheel, one hot dog stand, and one lady face painting.

saddest event I have ever been to.

Ah that’s really too bad! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

That is sad to hear. I was looking forward to it. I don’t think this dreary weather helps either. Well, it was free at least.

It takes a lot work and support for small inaugural events to get momentum and grow into first rate events. I’m sure the organizers will tweak and improve it next year, if there’s a next year.
