Wheel to Heal 2011
byWheel to Heal is coming up in May as locals ride their bikes to raise funds for Eagle Ridge Hospital in the Tri-Cities area. Participants are challenged to fundraise (by way of a personal campaign website) for the event which will consist of riding a 10km, 40km, or 80km course throughout Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam.
The event is coming up May 15th but there is still time to register (until May 12th) or sign up to volunteer. Entry fees start at $0 (children 8 and under) and go up to $35 for adults. Prizes will be awarded for the top fundraisers in each age category.
Eagle Ridge Hospital sees 100,000 patient visits annually and every year over 40,000 patients visit the Emergency Room. Apart from the busy ER, there are 6 full time operating rooms, outreach programs (from Diabetes to IV therapy) and patient recovery stories that would warm your heart from those who have suffered severe car accidents to strokes in the new High Intensity Rehabilitation program.
You can go hard-core and do the 80km ride, or bring out the family for the 10km route, all complete with beautiful scenery along the way. Follow Wheel to Heal on Twitter or Facebook for more information.
