Dancing in the Street Free Salsa & Swing Lessons on Granville
byDancing in the Street is a free dance lesson, dance class, and dance party happening right on Granville Street this Sunday, July 25th.
At 2:00pm you can head down to Granville Street between Robson and Georgia (where it is closed to traffic) for a complimentary beginner salsa lesson from Martinez Dance Company. After the lesson there will be non-stop dancing in the street until 6:00pm. You can dance in the street, on the sidewalk, and wherever else you can find the room to bust a move.
This is the first event in the series which will continue with more salsa August 15th & 29th then swing dancing (with Company B Jazz Band) August 8th and 22nd.

Hello, just a shout out that this Sunday’s salsa event is actually the second event in the series! The first event was a rip-roaring success on Sunday July 18th hosted by Jungle Swing Productions featuring Lindy Hop and Westcoast Swing dancing – including beginner Lindy Hop lesson at 2pm – which will return on August 8th and 22nd (Company B performance date) in alternation with the Salsa dates.
Thanks for posting about this wonderful event. Not only is it a great summer way to do some learning and exercising, it’s also a fantastic photo opportunity!
Thanks for the shout out! All of us working on this project are really excited about getting Vancouver dancing, outdoors, downtown.
This looks like so much fun. I hope it continues and spreads to other cities.
The BC Swing Dance Club is thrilled to be involved with “Dancing in the street”. We had our first West Coast Swing dance on July 18 with an enthusiastic bunch of dancers and a very appreciative audience. Our next dances will be on Aug. 8 and 22 from 4:00-6:00pm immediately following the lindy hop dancers. Come on out and get in on the fun!
I am so sad that I missed this! It’s on my mental to do list for next summer. I think I need one gigantic organizer for all of the great events Vancouver is getting. Also, the sunday pool party at the Westin is supposed to be great. If only we had another month of hot weather!!! We really deserve it.
