Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival 2010
byThe Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival take to the waters in False Creek for its 22nd year next week.
Attracting over 100,000 people and 180 dragon boat teams, it’s a highlight of the season that kick-starts summer for many. While the races take place in the water, up on dry land at Concord Place there will be tents with sponsor goodies, a marketplace, activities, a food festival and more.
This year there is also the World Beat Stage that will feature performers throughout the weekend:
Saturday June 19th
11:00am – 12:00pm Dal Hothi & The Headlines
12:30pm – 1:30pm The Outriggers
2:00pm – 3:00pm Somos Collective
3:30pm – 4:30pm Gary Comeau & The Voodoo Allstars
5:00pm – 6:00pm The Town Pants
Update June 15 It was announced this morning that desiFest Vancouver will be on the World Beats Stage at the Dragon Boat Festival. Canada’s only national South Asian music festival will take place June 19th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm.
Sunday, June 20th
11:00am – 12:00pm X Kalibre
12:30 – 1:30pm Zimbamoto
2:00pm – 3:00pm Mariachi Del Sol
3:30pm – 4:30pm Mostly Marley
5:00pm – 6:00pm Five Alarm Funk
All activities and concerts are completely free and let’s not forget the main attraction, the actual dragon boat races themselves will span over two days. Team members this year can also enjoy the Paddler’s Party setup just for them.
