Vancouver Twestival Tickets are Now on Sale
byFor the second time this year, I am organizing a Twestival event in Vancouver.
Twestival is a global fundraising event that is organized through Twitter, using the service to gather volunteers, get community input, invite participants, and publicize the event. Twestival will be like a meetup, where you can show up, have some food, win some prizes, and enjoy some entertainment. 100% of ticket sales go directly to the cause of choice.
There was a public vote a few weeks ago and Vancouver chose to support the BC Childrens Hospital Foundation.
Below are the event specifics, which I posted earlier on the Twestival Vancouver website:
Tickets for Vancouver’s Twestival event on September 12th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm are now available online.
This is the only place to get Twestival tickets as the Amiando ticket purchasing system is sponsoring Twestival worldwide. 100% of all ticket sales will go directly to the city’s charity of choice. Early bird tickets ($20) will be on sale for a week and then regular admission tickets ($30) will be on sale until the eve of the event.
Twestival Background:
Back in February over 200 cities around the world met in clubs, conference centres, coffee shops and restaurants to host fundraising events for the same global cause, charity:water. Each person came together through communications on Twitter and many met contacts and followers face to face for the first time.
It was such a success (with over $250,000 raised globally, and $4,000 locally in the same night) that we’re doing it all again. Around the world “Twestival Local” will take place, benefitting local causes.
Twestival Local:
Vancouverites voted on a public Twitter poll and the BC Childrens Hospital Foundation will receive 100% of your ticket sale today. Twestival Local Vancouver will help support their “Be a Superhero” campaign.
On September 12th, we’re calling everyone on Twitter in Vancouver to come out for this great local cause. If you’ve been to a meetup in town, this is similar.
What to do at the event:
Simply show up, have some food, have a drink, participate in the raffle or silent auction, be entertained, and chat with the Vancouver Twitter population. There will be music, free appetizers, and Granville Island Brewing is sponsoring a drink ticket. Additional food will be available for purchase along with a featured drink, “The Tweet”.
A Twitter wall will be setup to watch your tweets come in and the silent auction prizes include a weekend getaway at Tinhorn Creek winery in the Okanagan.
We will also be treated to some stand-up by Rob Cottingham, who pretty much had everyone rolling in the aisles at Northern Voice 2009 during his keynote, “teh funny”. The talented and lovely Rachael Chatoor will also entertain us with a song or two.
Sponsors:
– Ceilis Irish Pub (@CeilisVan)
– TourismVancouver – InsideVancouver.ca (@MyVancouver)
– Granville Island Brewing (@ItsGoodToBeHere)

You can view all of the other prize sponsors on the Vancouver Twestival website. If you would like to be involved with Twestival in any way, either as a prize sponsor or volunteer, please let me know (because that would be fantastic).

Sounds like its gonna be a blast this time around. Though I can’t attend as I’ll be at a wedding the same time this is going on.
Awesome! Thanks for organizing this. I just visited a kid friend at Childrens Hospital last week & had a close-up view of the place.
Looking forward to it, the last one turned out to be a great time!
Count me in!
That’s exciting. A very cool event, supporting a worthy cause. I was at the last Twestival, met some wonderful people, won some great prizes… and the memories linger on!
We’d love to supply a prize (we could do a custom basket or other, as you think appropriate), if you still still need some donations!
