Vancouver History: Before and After Photos Part Five

Comments 7 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Last week I didn’t realize how long I had been running the “then and now” photo series so we had Part Three, twice. I’m back on track this week and I’ve decided to feature transit and bus transport.

With everyone heading back to school and with commuting options changing, let’s take a look back at what Vancouver bus travel looked like when the city was young.

Thanks, RB. Aaah, the memories of too many hours spent on Brill trolleys between Chinatown and downtown …

The old picture labelled “double decker bus” is not taken in Vancouver, of course, but in the suburbs of London, England. It is probably a lot earlier than 1938 since buses like this served on the front lines during World War I, and would have been long taken out of service by then.

The 1900 Robson conveyance is also not a bus but a streetcar.

    But still an interesting collection

Wow, miss604! It’s so interesting to see how much Vancouver has changed since the 1900’s. What a contrast!
